Walsh cup in hollymount

(Oldest Posts First)

Why in gods name is this match in hollymount. A disaster of a place to get in an out of even for an under 12 county semi final so how is it going to cope with a decent crowd tonight. Secondly there is no stand, or not even a bank where people can watch the match. They will be 3/4 deep around the perimeter fence with people straining to get a good view. We have banks/ decent stands at gorey, monamolin, camolin, monageer, Patrick's park, bellefield, farmleigh, Bree, Wexford park, new Ross, taghmon. Those are just the ones off the top of my head. So why pick a venue that is difficult to get to and where there are no facilities for supports to watch the game with a good view.

Agreed. But think this has been discussed in another tread

have you ever tried to get into patricks park when there is a big match on?it is a bloody nightmare, parking is brutal in there, the streets get clogged with cars going both directions and cars parked, eventually cause gridlock.
i always park in the old dunnes stores car park and walk up,but it is a pain in the behind to get in and out of.
bellfield is the logical place for the match though, dont know who chose hollymount.

A new chairman but same old story. Nowhere else would this happen. No one can see the logic bar the co board apparently

Reason for Hollymount - Shels Chair (or former) brother of co. Sec ! Friends in high places.
Enjoy the traffic chaos and the game if we can see it !

I was a bit sceptical about going to the game last night but I thought the venue was well marshalled got in and out without too much bother. there was a great atmosphere around the place and I didn't have too much problems seeing the game. all in all a good nights entertainment and the right result. and a contender for goal of the year already. Well done to all concerned.

Fearcliste, you must have gone to the game without any kids. Because I had 3 there who couldn't see very much

Where is the Kilkenny match fixed for lads? There was an estimated 3k at the UCD game so you would expect an even larger attendance at this game . Surely Bellfield or Wex park are the only 2 most suitable options at this stage so supporters young and old can clearly see the game.

You would have to assume Bellfield at this stage. They probably won't use Wexford Park at this stage of the year.

The right venue has been choosen New Ross has been a great venue for Kilkenny v Wexford games in the past and it will be a super venue again this time around.
