There should be 4 points for a goal. In my view.

I'd leave things as they are Jim Gavin and Co first came up with that idea and then scrapped it for a reason.

I was at top level club semi-final that was won by 4 points today after extra time which was harsh on the loser if we had 4 point goals the margin of defeat would be double that.

2027 is Mayo's to lose. Mayo are bidding to be the first back to back winners outside of one's home league ground since 2007. They'll be tough to stop. Galway and Donegal arguably their opponents with the greater hunger.

The priority for my county would be to get out of division 3. We have to be playing at a higher level and we proved this year that we can .after the club championship we will have a stronger panel and hopefully all our big players like luke loughlin ,john heslin all stay fit and well

Will Kerry even be able to enter a team? Between hectic club schedule, a few lads off to AFL and retirements it could be a struggle for numbers. Winning Munster would be bonus territory. Try and give it a go anyway... in the words of Journey...Don't stop believing.

So long as they get to the final and get Kerry they should be ok

Imagine if you were living next door to it......

Club championships shouldn't be squeezed out for the national league anyway. The national league linked to championship is popular, so that is what it is. Not entirely right though. The hurling league gets by fine without needing a link to championship. If Division 1 football has to be sacrificed to retain a competitive club structure, just the way it's got to be.

True lol. Hard enough to listen to it here without being next door.

Ah, but does the hurling league get by fine?

Am thinking of when our Wexford football lads won promotion from Div. 3 this year by finishing in second place. I know from talking to some of them that initial thoughts were more along the lines of "have we a chance of playing in the Sam Maguire Cup now?" rather than "great, we get to play a Div. 3 League Final".

And the ambition for Div. 2 next year is not just to avoid relegation, but to finish high enough to be sure of a Sam Maguire spot then, no matter what happens in provincial championships. May as well aim high anyway!

There's no such equivalent in the hurling league.

Mayo won't do it again. Louth Dublin Roscommon Cork Monaghan Derry Meath all a long way off winning Sam"
Armagh wont win it either.

Replying To yew_tree:  "Very disrespectful to say the current champions aren't contenders. We may not win it but we will be in the shake up. Many people seem to forget only Kerry have been in more finals than Mayo in the last 35 years (Mayo and Dublin joint 2nd on final appearances) Tyrone are a distant third, so we aren't going anywhere. Some of the commentary recently seems to suggest Mayo are a flash in the pan…we aren't."
Last time ye won you went back to back.....

Incorrect.. The last time Mayo won All Ireland they did nt reach an All Ireland final again for 38 years.

Laois hurlers seemed content with their prize for winning the Joe Mac. Earned within the confines of the championship. Late winter and early spring football settling championship positions seems OTT. The majority are in favour anyways so it is what it is.
