Realt na Mara v Maudlintown

(Oldest Posts First)

Two tough clubs lads. Were any of ye at it? Must have been bad for Jack Stafford to abandon it.

Wasn't at the game but heard that it was mostly maudlintown players and management continuously abusing the ref. Again only what I heard so can't be sure if that's the main incident/incidents as to why it was abandonned.

What happens now with regard to quarter finals been on this weekend? Will both sides have to replay it or will one team be thrown out or both?

Im not sure about some of the stuff here. There was 3 matches in Bree that evening, Blackwater played the Shels along with the Marys v Realt Na Mara game and then Ballyhogue had an U14 match and im pretty sure the ref from the U14 match went down and was linesmen for the Marys Game even though the claim was that there was no linesmen.

I was there for the start of the game, left before half time and the only people on the line were the mentors and subs as most people stay up on the bank to watch the game as the game on the bottom pitch in bree allows for a view of the game from the bank.

Missed the incidents in question to be fair but from what ive heard from people there was that people were actually more annoyed with him for calling the game off than anything else and that he was getting a ton of abuse from both sides for that more than anything.

Our club in Wicklow have played Ballygarrett/Realt na Mara several times in challenge games. We have never encountered any sort of trouble in those matches. Great hosts when we went down there. Seem like a team only interested in the games.

The incident during this match had nothing to do with Realt-na Mara- Ballygarrett, it was the deporable and disgusting behaviour of the St Marys players and management which were the cause.

Ya, bit harsh on Realt na Mara, ref had running battles with Mary's players and mentors for most of the second half, both teams furious as to him abandoning the game, but in saying that no ref should have to listen to some of the abuse hurled at him especially after the Mary's players were sent off. Bit ridiculous too the game being replayed, there was only going to be one winner before it was called off .............

Perfect10 - we were given great hospitality by Ballygarrett. A full spread for both teams. I wasn't at the match in question, but, they were clean anytime we played them.

Realt na Meara are no saints, but then again who is! Any team.management in the heat of championship is going to be wired up, have had/seen many a tough match involving Realt Na Mara but always were man enough to shake hands afterwards.

Maudlintown are a strange team, when things are going well there as a united bunch a fellas you'll get, when things aren't going well, well they're the worst type, and I say that in the nicest way possible, when they move to their new pitch in Maudlintown, it's going be a real fortress.........

I've always found ballygarret to be a dirty club. Certain members of the club are renowned for giving referees a hard time.

I see this refixed game has been postponed again. Is this Saga going to run and run. I foresee a very long championship ahead if this isn't sorted out soon.

I see the refixture is now scheduled for 09 September. what is a bigger concern and what must be a concern for the rest of the clubs in the intermediate A championship is that there are no Quarter finals scheduled for the following weekend. the quarter finals in this grade were due to be played last weekend - if they are not played on the weekend of the 15th it will be at least the 29th of sept when they get played. A 5 week wait for seven clubs is just ridiculous at this stage of the year!!!

Went to watch the game today as a neutral, Mary's won it pretty handy in the end. 1.12 to 1.5 or somewhere thereabouts. Realt Na Mara not bothered with football just spent the game trying to pick fights. Kilmer will still win this grade pretty handy I'd imagine

Roles reversed from the first game then perhaps! I reckon they won't have it all their own way though!
