Semi Final Saturday 6th September 2014 - Played in Hough End, Manchester Yorkshire Emeralds vs Liverpool Wolfetones... WALKOVER GIVEN TO LWT
Lancashire Senior County Hurling Final Saturday 13th September 2014 Fullen Gaels 1 - 17 Liverpool Wolfetones 0 - 13
The Lancashire Senior Hurling Championship was resurrected this year after laying dormant for over two decades. The championship was contested by 3 teams, Yorkshire Emeralds, Fullen Gaels and Liverpool Wolfetones. For the first round each team played each other once, the bottom two teams then went into a semi-final with the top team receiving a bye into the final.
Unfortunately Yorkshire Emeralds were outclassed by Fullen Gaels and received a heavy defeat in the first round. As a result they could not get a full team out for the semi-final against Liverpool Wolfetones which was a shame as they drew with LWT in their first game. Hopefully they can pick things up for next year.
Fullen Gaels were too strong for LWT in the final. LWT controlled most of the ball in the opening 20mins but put up enough scores on the board. FG got a goal after 21mins and then knocked over a couple of points before half time to go in 1-11 to 0-08 up at half time. FG maintained their lead throughout the second half matching each of LWT scores. FG are still the team to beat in Lancashire but if LWT keep developing as they have been they will surely be contenders next year.
FG now go into the quarter final of the All British Junior Hurling Championship. Hopefully they can go all the way again this year.
