Good man Northroader why don't you lead the way and jump on the bandwagon and name yours?

@Ollie
It's yourself & greengrass who're offering the opinions on players who're omitted so let's have your Top 20s. I can't really find fault with vast majority of those listed

So you find no fault with leaving Jobser out the twenty? Or Damien Reid?

Good man 19616609. How is she cutting? What do you think of the top twenty?

I'm not around long enough to remember Liam Leech, Jimmy Mulroy, Muckle McKeown, Benny Gaughran and Leslie Toal playing. Damien Reid has already been mentioned and rightly so . Eugene Judge is also a very good call.

These topics have encouraged much craic during lock-down and the reality is, that from the top 20 listed, there are 10 that all would agree on and at least 20 that could occupy the other 10 spots. Personally I would have John O'Brien instead of Terry Lennon and Shane Lennon instead of Mark Stanfield (Keep the Kilkerley lads happy!). Damien Reid should be there also but it is very hard to see who you would leave out in his stead. In relation to Ray Finnegan, he is certainly worthy of top 20, but I cannot see any of the top 10 that I would leave out. I would have him ahead of Aaron Hoey, although I agree with Aaron being in the top 20. I did not see Muckle McKeown, Liam Leech or Leslie Toal play but from talking to those that did, they were certainly in the best 20. One could drive oneself mad on this topic!
In reading Seamus O'Hanlon's excellent articles on the Junior 1961 team, it was interesting to note that Leslie Toal has All Ireland junior medal in football and hurling. I wonder Ollie, how many other players in Ireland have the junior double?
I do wonder if lock-down continues, will we have to start focusing on the worst 20 players that we have ever seen!!

That's a great achievement by Leslie Toal. I would not know off by hand how many other players have won a junior double. I grabbed the bull by the horns and I did my own top twenty Louth players from the last 50 years:

20. Shane Lennon
19. JP O Kane
18. John O Brien
17. Damien Reid
16. Muckle Mc Keown
15. Liam Leech
14. Aaron Hoey
13. Benny Gaughran
12. Aidan Wiseman
11. Jimmy Mulroy
10. Razor Finnegan
9. JP Rooney
8. Stefan White
7. Danny Nugent
6. Colin Kelly
5. Leslie Toal
4. Stephen Melia
3. Gerry Farrell
2. Seamus O Hanlon
1. Paddy Keenan

Here is my starting 15 that I picked out of these 20 players:
1. Gerry Farrell
2. Aidan Wiseman
3. Leslie Toal
4. Stephen Melia
5. Danny Nugent
6. Jimmy Mulroy
7. Razor Finnegan
8. Paddy Keenan
9. Seamus O Hanlon
10. Benny Gaughran
11. Muckle Mc Keown
12. Liam Leech
13. Stefan White
14. Colin Kelly
15. JP Rooney

Ollie it's a tough job picking the top 20 from the last 50 years. So many great men have to be left out. 50 years ago this month one of our greatest Frank Lynch played his last game for Louth. On that basis I include him. Indeed I have difficulty in separating him and Paddy for the top spot.

This is my top 20 Loyal Louth men

1. Paddy Keenan
2. Frank Lynch
3. Stephen Melia
4. Seamus O'Hanlon
5. Benny Gaughran
6. Muckle McKeown
7. Leslie Toal
8. Gerry Farrell
9. Liam Leech
10. Ray Finnegan
11. Aidan Wiseman
12. Jimmy Mulroy
13.Colin Kelly
14. John O'Brien
15. Shane Lennon
16. J.P. Rooney
17. Seamus Kirk
18. Jim McDonnell
19. Damian Reid
20. Darren Clarke

Starting team to take on anyone
