County Junior Hurling Championship 2020

Croagh would have to be strong favourites to beat claughaun, Dromcollogher be fancied to beat Patrickswell but that could be a tighter affair.

As much as it would be a boost for hurling in the City Southside if Claughaun go up, I think it will be a Croagh vs Drom final with Croagh winning. I feel myself the junior is dragging out a bit too long especially when senior, premier intermediate and intermediate all done. Had the county gone into lockdown and with the inter-county season on the horizon, we could have had a problem getting the season finished.

This championship will struggle to be completed anytime soon . Tough on the 4 teams remaining .

Yes, unfortunately this looks like it wont be completed this side of Christmas in the current restrictions. Tough on Croagh/Kilfinny, Drom/Broadford, Claughaun and Patrickswell. Looks like January now if allowed but it can be played off quickly in 1/2 weeks. If played off by end January, there should be no disruption to the 2021 intermediate and junior groups. In fairness, it was a very good and competitive championship. Only downside was there was possibly too many teams which resulted in an extra couple of rounds as opposed to the senior and intermediate grades. Croagh/Kilfinny are still the favourites to make the jump up to intermediate.

Think drom/broaford are favourites, very good team, only lost one game and in that game, keeper was sent off early and still unlucky to lose but if it is played off in a week in January, any of the four could win.

GAA won't be starting back til Easter and that is only training, will the 2020 junior championship get finished or will there no room in the fixtures to finish it could it be made null and void and start a fresh in 2021 would be very unfair on the teams left if that happens.

Would imagine the semi finals and final will be played in quick succession once fixtures are allowed again even if thats May or June and then winners will be straight into 2021 Intermediate Championship, thats how its operating in other counties. Looking at the 4 remaining teams Croagh have looked very organised and have a large panel and should be best placed to deal with such an interrupted schedule .

Croagh would have to be red hot favourites but at this stage anything could happen. It could be May before it is played and probably be played off over two weekends. Although I heard a rumour that if county board run into fixture problems with start of 2021 championship, they may look at promoting the 4 remaining clubs. Cant see that happening but there is a motion at GAA congress that all counties will have to reduce their county championship to 16 teams or less in each grade, senior, intermediate, junior. With 24 teams in junior hurling, it will have to be streamlined in some way if passed.

Think it needs to go at that and we need a junior C, croagh probably are the favourites and seem to have a great team but I wouldn't right off drom, probably the best junior team I watch last year. Didn't see croagh.

I think its a good idea and the ideal opportunity to to do that.
Promote the 4 clubs to intermediate and promote the losing intermediate finalists and semi finalists to Premier intermediate and have identical competitions in Senior, Premier intermediate and Intermediate. I would aim for that format in junior A, B,C etc too but it will take longer to achieve that.
Monaleen benefitted from a decision like this a number of years ago and never looked back.

Hard to know who will win, croagh would of been favourites but with the long break, best of luck to the four teams.

When are the draws going to take place for the 2021 Junior Hurling championship ?
Will it have to wait till 2020 winner is known to have a draw?
After such a long break Croagh would appear to be best placed to win it out with a large squad and hurling number one sport for 90% of their players . Patrickswell may be the same but not easy for second teams even if Na Piarsaigh and Kilmallock managed it in recent years.

Two one sided semi finals today but an interesting final lies ahead. In the first game Croagh were on top from start to finish and look supremely fit , Jack Lenihan half forward , Denis Lenihan full back ,Lynch in goals and Seamus Hickey centre back were very impressive for croagh . Claughaun never threatened and were dependent on Ian Mcnamara frees with many players looking unfit after the long break .In the other semi Patrickswell showed hurling is a simple game in the first half with the older heads of Fitzgerald, Harty and Foley striking some great scores. Patrickswell tired significantly in the second half and Derry McCarthy and Gareth Noonan as always helped drom come more into the game but many of their team mates had little hurling done.
Croagh and the Well were both in the one group all those months ago and Croagh won that game by 6 points but this should be a tighter affair next weekend. Will Croaghs pace and energy beat the experience of Patrickswell?

With all respect to Patrickswell it would be best for club hurling in Limerick if Croagh/Kilfinny go up with Kilmallock and Na Piarsaigh 2nd teams already up intermediate. But I think it's Croagh/Kilfinny's final to lose, a very good young team and Seamus Hickeys addition must have had made a big difference to them.

Outstanding performance from Croagh Kilfinny tonight winning 2-22 to 0-8.A club that has put in huge organisation and hard work for the past few years gets it rewards in style. The well couldn't live with the workrate and intensity of a very well coached croagh team. They will shake intermediate as well once celebrations are over.
