Some messing about with fixtures already boys! A man does wonder what county burd does be at, probably all trying to cover their own clubs ass!

With the smallest number of clubs to organise in Ulster, Fermanagh make a serious mess of senior fixtures year after year. Any suggestions as to how they can improve?

I would say,

1) Start the leagues earlier, forget about the national league getting in the way. How do other sports manage when their players are called up to other teams? eg. Soccer and rugby.

2) Play more games in the summer (double fixtures- Fri & Sun) when ground is in good shape, not much craic slapping about in muck during October and November.

@solano
If your Skea club has problems with a water-logged pitch, not all club grounds are the same. Having games on a Friday is asking a bit much of working players who have to travel from Belfast or Dublin, even further afield. At the way Fermanagh's going, the championship won't impact too long on club league games.

Yesterdays Herald certainly highlighted the ambiguity surrounding this weekends league fixtures being moved.

No one actually appears to know why the request was put in.

Some people are talking about a knees-up on saturday night for the county footballers.

If that is the case be honest and open about the thing. This secrecy only allows innuendo to creep in.

Why are some clubs having to field on friday night without their county players? Are they away?

You'll find that rejigging of this weekend's fixtures is associated with a key birthday of a long time member of both the co board and enniskillen gaels. the invitees are beginning to become known so the surprise party by out has been further spoiled by the likes of solano and howshecuttin08.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that a surprise birthday party is the reason for every club footballer in the county having had their fixtures changed?

Why are County Players unavailable on Friday night? Can they not play for their clubs and then toddle on to this big party?

howshecuttin08 whats your problem mate? Surely, there are plenty willing to play on Friday night and its people like you that want to make a issue out of nothing.

Barneytown
My problem mate is that club fixtures are playing second fiddle to a group of 36.

My problem is that when a set of fixtures are sent out, as a club player, I arrange my shift work around them. Thats why ccc give advance notice of fixtures.

My problem is that when these fixtures are changed it causes problems for an ordinary club footballer. Plans have to be changed. Work changed/passed up on which in the current economic climate is not easy.

My problem is then that some clubs won't be at full strength because (for some reason) county players aren't available. Championship status is dictated by league performance this year. Will my club losing 2 points this weekend (possibly) because we our county players weren't available, but some clubs who moved their fixture back to the original day can play with their star men, cost us at the end of the year?

Thats my problem barneytown. If the county set-up can dictate when I can and cannot play football, the very least I expect in return from our "transparant" county board is an explanation why. If it is the rumoured knees-up then fine but just say why the games are moved!
If my club look a game moved for whatever reason, we need to contact ccc and give our reasons in writing before it is approved. Is it any different here?

And correct me if i'm wrong barneytown but were your club not looking answers on the reasons why games were moved (any why other clubs moved games back to Sunday to accomodate themselves) at the start of the week? Mate.

GalloonBaffoo - A Newtown man slagging another clubs pitch - Dangerous!
Also, your a long way off with your Skea guess, my club could have matches even if the whole town of Enniskillen was flooded, such it the quality and location of our grounds.

I understand where you are coming from about work and travel etc, but you cannot wait and expect to have all your players all the time for games. If a man has to work, so be it, he misses the match, end of story.

You don't see your priest changing mass time when you have to work now do you?!

I don't see the priest putting in the bulletin mass is at 3.30pm on a sunday and then changing it til 7.30pm on a Friday without telling you why!

And I still don't know why the county lads can't play. Thats all. As for myself I'm not able to tog tonight but you're right, theres plenty of games i'll probably miss because of rescheduling but I just think that club players deserve to know the reason why games are moved. Thats all.

The reason for the matches been changed is to give the county players a chance to enjoy the spoils of the Brewster brawl.

Was at the second half of our club game on Friday as i was working and couldn't get to the start of it and the treatment of club players was a topic that alot of people were talking about
Why were games changed at such short notice for a County team social event?
Why did the county players have to go through a very tough training session on the Thursday leaving them unable to play anywhere near their best for their club?
Why were the games at 7.15 meaning that some club players could not make the start of the game?
When was the last time the county players trained with their club?
Club players don't get travel expenses to go to training or games, they don't get coaches to and from matches, meals after training and games or gear, gear and more gear club players don't get expenses for loss of earnings unlike county players or the very best of medical treatment but many do train 3, or 4 times a week and give their best for their club but they are being treated very poorly

If the townies weren't up to beating the leckers dont be blaming the CCC.

The fixtures were changed to facilitate the county players to an 'end beard' party which was a fundraising ventures by them in aid of a good cause to send a young child for special medical treatment. If the complainers should appreciate this charitable act rather than criticising the county board for supporting it by arranging some fixtures.
