2011 SFC draw: Cork start against Clare

(Oldest Posts First)

Sam Maguire holders Cork will start their 2011 Munster campaign with a quarter-final against Clare and with Kerry on the other side of the draw, there is a real possibility of a showpiece Cork v Kerry decider in the south.

Leinster sees all the traditional heavy hitters on the one side of the draw with Kildare, if they beat Wicklow, set to play provincial champions Meath in a repeat of this year's All-Ireland quarter-final.

Dublin will play the winners of Laois, under new manager Justin McNulty, or Longford, with a possible semi-final meeting with Meath or Kildare in the offing.

Louth, who lost the 2010 final is such heart-breaking circumstances will be happy to have drawn Carlow and will fancy their chances, along with Wexford and Offaly, of a place in next year's Leinster final.

The two standout games in the Ulster SFC are the meetings of Down and Armagh and the repeat of this year's final between Tyrone and Monaghan.

In Connacht Mayo and Galway are likely to meet in a semi-final while Sligo can set up a repeat of their 2010 final against Roscommon if they overcome Leitrim in their quarter-final.

Another qualifying campaign for the Clare footballers looks like a certainty after that draw. I think Tommy Murphy Cup shud be brought back!
