Intermediate HC

(Oldest Posts First)

All quiet in IHC front. A few stand out results the other nite, particularly Rasharkin beating Ahoghill. Great victory for them!! either them or Carey in an IHC!!
St. johns demolition of St Pauls clearly shows why they shouldn't be playinG Intermediate hurling. Does anyone think that any of the remaining teams can put it up to St Johns? Final predictions?

Well first of all being a carey man i will have to say that yes i think that we could put it up to st johns in an ihc final! yes i know that they beat us handy in corrigan in the league early season but championship is a whole different game its all about who wants it the most on the day and i can tell you yhat carey are hungry for a championship! but before we even think about finals we have to play a good resharkin side who beat a well fancied clooney gaels on wed night, we no there a physical side and have a few good hurlers and will not be going in to this game thinkin it will be easy! Also on the point of st johns playin ihc i dont see any problem in it, yes there stronger than most of the teams in it but it can only help the rest of us improve! good luck to all the teams left!!

Can anybody remind me why St John's went in to Intermediate grade hurling, they are probably better than some of the teams in the Senior championship.

Even i can see that St Johns went for intermediate to blood younger players ,what use would one game at senior do for their younger players and probaly get well beat .Over the next two or three years they might be up and down divisions then establish themselves in div 1 its not rocket science ,horses for courses... maybe a few other clubs should look at their future and set a few goals.Bushwhacker we all know why St Johns were relagated last year they got beat by the other clubs thats whats happens you go down a division .Maybe all the Belfast clubs should be playing intermediate championship as none of them raised a flag in senior .

Bushwhacker any club can play int champ if they think they are not strong enough for sen st johns are rebuilding at hurling and the best champ for them is inter fair play to them they will be flyin the flag for antrim in the all Irelands.

"fair play to them they will be flyin the flag for antrim in the all Irelands"

This is all they really had their eye on all year. In fairness to St John's, I've heard a number of their members express almost embarrassment at winning the Intermediate Championship, with a "sure we're a senior team winning an intermediate, where's the glory in that?" approach to their victory. This is commendable, there is nothing to be learned breezing your way through an Antrim and Ulster championship, playing Lisbellaw, who without meaning any disrespect to them, were like lambs to the slaughter last weekend. Do your own members a favour next year and beyond, now that you're up to senior again...stay there.

Lads couldn't make the game sunday due to being on holidays, im a Fermanagh man looking a bit of info on sundays games, Lisbellaw played well for 45mins im told and were 4 down at that stage.

What happened from there.......Greater experience and skill i can only assume?

Anyone show up well from Lisbellaw?

Congrats to St. Johns and good luck in the final!
