The Clean Sweep

(Oldest Posts First)

Does anyone know if this is a first or has some club done first before. Carnew completed the clean sweep on Sat when they won the U-16 championship to add to the 12, 14 and minor A titles that they'd already won this year.

St Patrick's did it in the LGFA Code last year.
I think AGB may have done it in the LGFA Code around 08/09.
Don't know if it was done in other codes.

Well done to Carnew U.16`s on winning both u.16A football and hurling titles this year.
As far as I know none of these players are on the county u.16 football panel last year .
Does this say anything about the selection process or how players are rated or accessed for county selection.

Our fellow Emmets, Carnew are realy on a roll at underage. credit and congratulations to them from all here in Bray. Is the young Barnes lad the first ever to get the man of the match in both hurling and football in the same year?

Strange if none of these lads are on county panels. Do you know why this is the case? How many of them are on the county hurling panel. Maybe because they are mainly a hurling club that plays some football that most of the lads are on the county hurling squad and cant do both.
if this is not the case a review should be done to find out what is the problem

SIR LARRY
Don't know what your point is -- but as far as I know Carnew are a dual club that play both hurling and football.
Not a bit of football as you put it. I think there was one trial for u.16 football team this year and this was badly advertised.
There are people working full time for co board as development officers and did any of them go to any of the u.16 games or final for that matter . It is those people that should be scouting for the best players going to matches and encouraging the best players to play with county.

Wicklow people.
Can I ask you a question.
On your u16 spuad have you
Players from other clubs playing
On permission.
If so how many and what clubs.
Brilliant year for your club.
Well done.

I am not disagreeing with your point about scouting. I am asking if the players are already involved in hurling panels and if so are they involved in enough activity so are not available to the football panels.
If that is the case then there is no problem because as we all know the days of dual players is fast disapearing.
If they are not involved on the hurling then we do have a problem which needs to be investigated.

Carnew must be putting in a serious amount of work down there, I see they won the u16 and minor again this year. Fair play to the club and there structures at underage must be working....
