Poor Supporters

(Oldest Posts First)

Really dissapointed to see how poor our support was in Croke Park last sunday there was about 800 Wexford people in head quarters for this game. People go on about Wexford having the best supporters in the country, rubbish talk, when our hurlers were struggling a few years back the supporters departed from following them in their thousands, and are only jumping back on the bandwagon now again. I hope there will be 2,000 -3,000 Wexford fans travelling to Clare next Saturday and a similar number in to watch our footballers on Sunday too.

I would have to agree. From 05 onwards the hurling support has plummeted. But in some ways I think that's better. I've said before that 2 of my favourite memories were shared with a tiny Wexford support. Only the purest saw kk 04 and tipp 07

This "best support in the country" is just being misconstrued. Not the biggest support but our passionate supporters are better than any other county

Having been in Croke Park on Sunday, I don't know where people are getting the figures from but I'm guessing there was no more that 1000 wexfordians there. To be honest though, it was on tv, and in all honesty, and I'm the most optimistic of supporters going, we were never going to get within touching distance of the dubs, €30 a ticket, fuel up there/train ticket, food for the day, it's not a cheap day out to get slagged off by them arrogant dubs for the day! In saying that, I went in the vague hope of an upset……
Clare on Saturday, I can't imagine too many numbers showing up for that one, we don't get good numbers to travel to Thurles, let alone Ennis! Hopefully the footballers will get a good following. Again, I wouldn't be hopeful though :(

Rossytillidie basically summoned up the whole thing... I can't travel to Ennis due to other commitments be first game I will miss in a long time... And lets be honest if we get 2500 in wexford park for the football on Sunday i will be shocked we just don't get the following in football which royally pees me off.

I will say one thing though the fans who travel are among the most passionate and die hard you will meet.

Also the downside of bandwagoners is you have to listen to "ah jaysus there useless etc.etc" so be careful what you wish for

Happens in a lot of counties lads, last year id say 4-5000 clare fans in thurles for first round Deise, then massive crowd turn up for all ireland final. even munster semi a few weeks back v cork, outnumbered 3-1. annoying but most people are only bandwagoners, its same in all sports.

Many travelling down to Ennis? Hopefully we get a decent support. I decided to make a weekend out of it myself and hope to have a few celebratory pints Saturday night although I wouldn't be too optimistic.

We'll see how good our supporters are over the next few days. Massive Leinster final for our under 21s in Dublin hopefully Parnell park is full of wexford jerseys. Then the big one in the park on Saturday. Surely against the All Ireland champions we will at least 15000 out to support our young and promising team. It would be great if a huge home crowd could roar our young team to a famous victory

One thing jumping on the bandwagon at this stage
