Ya they have fallen from grace and now play intermediate level, they play senior county championship with St. Brendan's an amalgamation of other junior clubs on the Tralee outskirts, Pats [Blennerville], Churchill, Ardfert, Na Gael. They were the main club in tralee years ago with all the sheehy's and claimed 4 in a row county championships the full hog is on their webpage... one of the nest stories if the handing over of the captaincy to Moyvanes Con Brosnan as a peace offering during the Civil War... just proves in Kerry Football does come first .. but like I say.. check out their webpage.. Thanks for that Horsebox. The mighty have indeed fallen, just like the famous Walsh Island in my own county, the Connors and O'Connorsetc , relegated to Senior B in 2015. I read that in Kerry football was a way of healing the post Civil War divisions, very laudable. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1215 - 11/01/2015 11:51:14 1682160 Link 0 |
You could also check out a book which came out in 2013 called Forging a Kingdom, the GAA in Kerry 1884-1934 longbridge it goes into a lot of detail about the Mitchels origins and how they powered Kerry to their initial All Irelands.
