Traleegerry: I will check this out tonight as I have the 1975 programme at home and another book listing all medal winners in alphabetical order so it will be listed in that, I do know that North Kerry's Johnny Bunyan played at full forward in the 1st Round against Tipperary and got a medal because of this in 75. Back then the rules were if you played 1st round you were entitled to a medal that was included in "5" subs allocation. Back then and I'm open to correction here if my memory is right the panel got only 20 medals, nowadays the allocation is 26, but the majority of county board buy 4 additional one and mix them in so the panel of 30 get one. Traleegerry: Well I was half right, Ray started and played the full game at full forward in Clonmel against Tipperary, however he did not play against Cork in Killarney in the Munster Final, or against Sligo He did not even make the match panel of 21 for the all Ireland so therefore was not eligible for a medal, Johnny Bunyan from Ballydonoghue came on against Tipperary and was on the match panel that is why he was eligible for a medal. You said you might mention to Charlie Nelligen but sure he was only a minor in 75 along with Jack O'Shea and Seanie Walsh. Horsebox77 (Kerry) - Posts: 5002 - 05/09/2013 20:05:38 1476101 Link 0 |

Charlie was a sub for the kerry seniors in 75, he played in goals when kerry won the minor game and then ran straight into the senior dugout. He might not have been on the programme and did not get a medal, a few years later the GAA brought in a rule where the sub goalie was automatically given a sub medal.
