Do you mean the original Golden Years? That's not available on DVD but if you were able to get a copy of the VHS version, Christy Riordan would be able to convert it for you.

I aint been around for a while lads, had to close out a deal in Abu Dhabi!.....keep my aul empire going strong y'know!

Listen, fair play to ye for spotting me buying the DVDs lads. I heard a few local lads out Castlegregory way talking about them so I went and bought them at knock down price in bulk. The local cabbages show up and I sell the last DVDs in the county are to them at double the retail price!!.......Thats why Im in the Corporate Box and all you lads sit with the other ordinary people in the cheap seats!

Well well, isnt the football championship working out just as I predicted for ye lads?.....what did I tell ye?......'Slow and Quiet' under the radar stuff and then its SAM into the bag for ye lads before anyone knows where ye came from!!
Yer the best team in Ireland in 2013 lads and nobody can beat ye!.....Congratulations Kerry!

Those highlighted clips from '75 to '86, packed into an hour or two, perpetuate a complete fallacy; that football was good back then.

No doubt, Kerry were the best and had some great players but when compared with the present day (incl. Kerry of the noughties), the football of "the golden years" was very ordinary indeed.
I was at many of those games and at the time thought that many of them were fantastic; the '82 final being a prime example.

But on closer analysis and with hindsight (a great thing admittedly), the amout of wasted possession by all teams even Kerry was sinful. The amount of times Jacko just lashed the ball upfield into opponents hands, the high hoofs outta defense by Denihan or Kenneally, and the hanpassed goal, show that era in its proper light. And it's only against other eras that any given era can be judged.

So let's take off the rose-tinted specs and kick nostalgia to touch. A closer look at reality will show that those weren't any "golden years" at all!

I know coz I was there. Thankfully, I'm still here and I've modern day football to guage the 70's and 80's against!
