Championship Prediction Competition.

Eunans4awhile I see your small yearly cameo has come around again but hopefully we cut it short like we did last year.

All joking a side my confidence isn't high i think Eunans have been the best team this year if you consider they played Bundoran x2, micheals and kilcar and not losing to any. I don't think they've received the credit they deserve and we can not take them for granted this weekend.

I'll put my head on the line and say if Eunans win this weekend they will win the championship where as if we win i think we only win the championship if we play the Gweedore that played yesterday and not the Gweedore that played kilcar last year.

Could someone explain why so many Tyrone coaches/managers are getting clubs in Donegal. Is it the strength of the euro or their ability is superior to homegrown men.

please double check your own score.
Heating up nicely at the top now!
Ardara result pulled a few back into the race for the Dr. Maguire Hoganstand Prediction Competition.

Replying To ManusFromHeaven:  "Dungloe are in a bad bad place and that has been compounded by clinging on to Senior Status for the best part of the last decade where they have barely won a championship match but survived in play offs. With no prospect of winning anything and simply being happy to play against the top teams, all motivation drains.

They have not provided a senior county player aside from Hanlon (Na Rossa developed) in over 20s years since the Sweeney brothers came through in the mid/late 90s. This is an incredibly poor stat for a club with a town and catchment area the size of Dungloe. Compare and contrast with their senior status neighbours who border the Rosses. In the same period these 2 clubs have collectively contributed up to 30 senior county players."
Dungloe seem to be struggling. Strong at underage up to minor and u-21 but can't bring it through at senior level. Are they in a worse place than other clubs like Ardara, Four Masters or Aodh Ruadh ?

Can think of 5 or 6 of their players who are in America and Australia who played county minor u-21 and even a few at senior level. There might be issues other than emigration but it doesn't help matters. And as you said, with no hope of winning anything, motivation drains. How do the likes of Naomh Conaill manage to hang on to all of their best players ? What do they all work at ?

Fair play! Don't forget the Milford Termon match is this weekend hopefully as well as the two semi finals!

1. The Rock2121 - would compare himNaomh Conaill has been the front-runner since the start of the championship and seems to b on a mission. Has form and will be kicking himself if he throws this away. Could win his own competition like Murphy winning the championship with the glen in 2016.

2. Lockjaw - Eunans. Bit of a dodgy start but seem to be getting stronger as the weeks progress. This weeks picks will tell a lot about him.

3. Ryan - Gaothdobhair - very steady and consistent throughout with his predictions. Bit of a blip this week but well placed going into this weekend if takes lessons from last game on board. Has pedigree. Biggest challenger to the Rock2121.

4. Football guy - Kilcar - still hanging on, could b out of championship and hard to know where he is at. Similar to lockjaw, this weekends picks will tell a lot. Has pedigree and could easily come in with 2 correct score predictions to blow everyone else out of the water.

5. The rest - back to the drawing board. A few to many Tyrone men involved.

Very good. Got a good laugh out of this.

A good bit of interest throughout and come craic too. Although from a personal point, I lost a lot of credibility and street credit when I tipped Bundoran by one at the weekend.

Haha good stuff. Hard to beat a bit of lighthearted entertainment when we can't get to matches.
To use golfing parlance, this weekend could be "moving " weekend! The games will hopefully be a lot tighter so we might see a few correct calls in terms of the winning margins.

Too early in the week to call yet until we get news on injuries etc

Any word on Ciaran Thompson? Odhran MacNiallais, Micheal Carroll?

And it's not as if they've not had the right men on board to manage them. They've had Declan Bonner and Francie Martin, both among the top 5 managers in the county for the last 20 years, and neither had any real success.

Pre-COVID, Dungloe saw lots of job creation and population was remaining relatively consistent. Hard to blame the demographics for the decline especially in comparison with their west Donegal neighbours. They've lost players to emigration, but so has every team.

I'd suggest they would do well to hit the drawing board from U8s to Seniors because something isn't right when they're struggling to produce and subsequently hold on to senior level footballers.

Dungloe's Reserves have more of a style or philosophy than their senior team do.

Four masters and ballyshannon started from scratch right up and are starting to come strong at the age groups. Dungloe and maybe ardara may have to do the same

Hi spoons2010:. Blast from the past. Honoured it was me you replied to. Honestly thought you were long gone. Hopefully you can stay with us, you were one of the more colourful posters in the past. Kilcar by 10 as Gweedore seem to have serious issues with discipline. Things are not right from what I'm hearing.
