Wexford minor hurling 2014

(Oldest Posts First)

Well the process for selecting the minor hurling manager for 2014 has started. Any ideas on who it should be?

What is Paul Carley's pedigree does anyone know? Has he managed Glynn at underage? I like Willie Cleary a lot too but presume he is not wanting the job again?

Willie cleary not seeking the job again. As far as I know Paul Carley has been involved in underage teams with Glynn but never been a manager?

Hangs around d backround but won't take the responsibility of being the manager. Also numerous players over the last few years have told me he never stops on about '96. Young lads dont need or appreciate that crack!!!

Glynn Barntown have actually nominated Mickey Laffan as their candidate for the job. He has been over their under 16 and 18 teams for the last few years including this year with lots of success most notably the minor double a few years back. Been told he also managed their under 21 team to a premier double over a decade ago. He went for the job last year also.

minor players now dont hold liam griffin in the same regard as those of us old enough to remember 1996.he is a hero to me but i think most of the players would think 'who is this guy, what did he do'?imagine being a minor in 1996 and whoever the manager in 1977 was is there tagging along as a selector.
i dont mean this as an attack on liam griffin of any sort,i will never forget the inspiration and belief he instilled into our hurlers in 96,but i dont think that necessarily holds true 17 years later.

Thats where your wrong perfect10, liam griffin has been a great influence on the minor teams of the last few years. A certain extra respect was given to him, his opinions and his logical views on the game, one thing is for sure, when liam spoke you listened - not because you were forced but because he had the respect. You talk of the current minor players as if they have know knowledge of the history of wexford gaa at all. I can guarantee you that if Brian Cody offered his services to a kilkenny minor team in 2030, there would be no debate as to who he is.

whatever about griffin, its disapointing willie cleary is not doing another year. would have presumed he would have wanted a second year at it but then maybe he just hasnt the time.
