Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship 2020

(Oldest Posts First)

One of the most competitive championships in Limerick in recent years , this year sees the 8 teams split in to two groups of four with top 2 in semi finals. The game of Kildimo and Mungret was billed as game of the weekend and didn't disappoint with Mungret emerging the narrowest of victors by a point. There is nothing between these teams and if they meet again i wouldn't like to be calling it. The other 2 teams in the group played out a draw and Cappamore and Bruree will have a big say in this group.
Bruff went about their business in impressive fashion with a 9 point win over Knockainey whilst newly promoted Glenroe came out on top narrowly in another south Limerick derby. Kildimo v Cappamore and Bruff v Dromin Athlacca the pick of this weeks fixtures.
It was a class picture of those on the digger in Clarina watching over the wall the Kildimo v Mungret game, some great Ballybrown servants showing the lengths people will go to see a good game of hurling, a iconic picture of the interest in Limerick hurling .

Kildimo should have won really, Mungret keeper let a ball from a sideline go through his fingers just as it seems Kildimo were pulling away. Great to see Hayes getting 6 from play and on form. Darren O connell also got 1.2 from play and it was a great goal.

Bruff and Glenroe continue their good run with victory's last night to guarantee qualification for semi finals with their group game to decide first and second .
Mungret made it 2 out of 2 , kildimo had a big win over cappamore and kildimo v bruree will be the big game in round 3 with kildimo strong favourites to win that game and advance to semi finals .

Bruff and Glenroe meet to decide the winner in group 1 this weekend and in the other group Mungret & Kildimo will be strongly fancied to get the better of cappamore and Bruree but one never knows as semi final spots will be decided this weekend.

Both semi finals would draw big crowds in normal times. Kildimo, Mungret & Bruff were expected to make the semi finals with Glenroe deservedly joining them.
Bruff have done everything right so far but Kildimo might have too much for them. Mungret will be expected to account from Glenroe but they are a proud outfit who'll press the city club all the way. Mungret V Kildimo final ill go with.

KIldimo-Pallaskenrys destruction of Bruff on Saturday set a real benchmark on Saturday and on the evidence of that performance they will take some beating in the final. Mungret did their job beating Glenroe and were already narrow winners over K/P in group but Kildimo Pallaskenry look primed to avenge last years final defeat and bring Senior Hurling to the parish of KIldimo Pallaskenry. A very interesting final awaits.

Kildimo Pallaskenry county champions after tonight's final victory over Bruff , another club from the city division gone senior and I'm sure Mungret will get there in the near future . Those that knitted Kildimo pallaskenry together in recent times will be happy tonight .

Kildimo look like a team who will perform well at senior level.i know the final was only Sunday evening but I would definitely fancy them to make a quarterfinal next year..Mungret struggled to get scores and were depending on Paul o brien way to much..it is amazing the pick that both clubs who played in the final have and I'd expect both to possibly get stronger..

Not sure where you get 3 parishs from ? Kildimo and Pallaskenry is two if not one parish , they have a few from Kilcornan as well , is this the third parish you refer to ?
The way things are going with Killeedy - Tournafulla, belville gaels ( Feohonagh and feenagh ) , croagh - Rathkeale there will be far fewer hurling clubs in the future but more sustainable and better able to compete , I'd imagine there's quite a few more amalgamations going to happen in the near future particularly in west limerick . Clubs were created out of the church parishs back in the day , maybe the new church clusters could be used as a template for clubs struggling presently , some clubs are going nowhere on their own presently , be better off with 24 good clubs than 12 good clubs and 30 just existing .
