Had ye a falling out in the past or something? You're very personal on his losing streak. Sure if he's out of politics it's hardly political now. I don't think anyone would set themselves up for losing all the time so must be some logic to it. Anyway whoever wins or whatever the make up of the board I hope we're discussing football and hurling more rather than money and bye laws. No, no falling out at all. I voted for him for P.R.O last year and was disappointed when he didn't get it as I haven't seen or heard a word from the man who got the job. I love my politics and the prize on offer is a seat in Leinster House. There are 2 candidate's looking for Scanlons seat when he steps down. The momentum is with our senior manager at the moment, the other runner needs to start building his profile. Interesting times ahead

The PRO has done a great job this year - can't understand how you reckon you haven't seen or heard from him. Maybe you don't realise you have. Will not involved in the politics angle except to say - Sligo GAA could do without this. ShakeHands (Sligo) - Posts: 32 - 26/11/2019 09:51:35 2251484 Link 0 |
I think eoinog you're looking into conspiracy theories too much on politics. I know little about the Henry buck only what was in an email read out at our club meeting. He's secretary of his own club and as you say he was on the board and tried to go for PRO so he obviously feels he has something to offer. Taylor is well known in the GAA and sure whatever the two want to do outside of the GAA is their own business but I'd hope neither are using it for political gain. More interesting was what our club delegate said and that there looks like a fall out within the upper ranks on the county board. They're supposedly not meeting as much as they used and procedures not followed when they do. Club didn't receive motions or nominations which is unusual given its only about two weeks away so perhaps convention may throw up a few surprises yet. If we can't get the suit men/women working together it won't work down the line either. Mayo seeing that now too although at a much higher level. In any event it provides for some chat while we await the return of football! TheTownEnd123 (Sligo) - Posts: 3 - 26/11/2019 10:47:14 2251503 Link 0 |
Please tell me what the P.R.O has done, because it must be a well kept secret. Coverage on Ocean has improved considerably but that's down to the excellent Austin O Callaghan. Motions and nominations are sent out 10 days before Convention so there's loads of time yet. I don't want to turn this forum into a political one but politics is rife in GAA, not just in our County. We could definitely do without this shoot out getting played out in public. Has the secretary done anything wrong ?? Who is to answer to the state of Scarden's pitches that they are unplayable when they are needed ? eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 812 - 26/11/2019 14:24:47 2251555 Link 0 |

We will win our home 3 games. Should beat London. Can't see us beating Carlow. That will leave us having to beat Wicklow and Wexford away to get promoted...... Would love to see it happening but.........

Would be hopeful of some shocks and other teams beating each other, that we could afford 2 losses and still get promoted. Although the last 2 years, 2 losses in Division 4 wasn't enough for promotion muscles (Sligo) - Posts: 348 - 26/11/2019 16:50:26 2251590 Link 0 |
A tricky start away for our boys. They haven't won a competitive match in a long time so a trip away doesn't help. Anyone know when Carlow and Wexford are playing each other as the result of that will tell who we can afford to lose to. Last thing we want is a 3 way tie because it's doubtful we'd Ben on the winning side of it. Four very winnable games though to start to keep us in the mix. Any interesting motions for the convention? Any big battles taking place to get on the executive? NewSligofan (Sligo) - Posts: 236 - 05/12/2019 10:42:26 2253333 Link 0 |
Sadly motions are a waste of time. Most get referred on to fixtures cttee and are never heard of again while the rest of them get debated and also get sent to the bin. Nearly every year there is a motion not to fix championship matches on a Sunday Evening as lads then are too late to get buses back to colleges. Nothing changes eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 812 - 09/12/2019 15:06:38 2253949 Link 2 |
Even for the lads driving back on a Sunday it is soul destroying. It is inevitable now that more and more young lads will move from Sligo for work/college. The football calendar will have to be modified to suit these lads or clubs will risk losing them.

Did you put your name forward for a position ?
eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 812 - 11/12/2019 13:14:38 2254287 Link 0 |
What a silly comment. If I decided to put my name forward for a position it'd be impossible to get elected. They all vote for each other
