Next up Carlow, I think Jim needs to start...………. after Sunday we are in good shape.

When is Grimes, Woods, Burns, Maguire and Ciaran Byrne back does anyone know?

I think Woods and Burns were on the bench, Maguire was commentating, not sure about Byrne or Grimes. I think Byrne was always going to be back towards the very end of the league anyway.

I think the starting 15 is picking its self Duffy must be nearly there now has contributed well each time I seen him, I like the Idea of Big Jim coming on for the last 20 I think there are people in front of him to start. Grimes wont shift Sam from the Square he has been our most influential player so far. Maguire will need to be on top of his game to shift either wing backs, Burns will be looking to shift Decky but with Sam on the frees now and Decky contributing from play this is not a given Burns might find it hard to get back in, then Casey has a big job to also stake a claim. There is also the midfield with Early needing to improve his discipline big time he will need to work hard to shift Calliff who I thought had a great game yesterday his passing was very good. All this makes for a very competitive panel add Rory to this and injured McKeever we now have numbers which hopefully will drive the group to promotion and a few cship games. Id say the Louth Manager knows 10 definite starters he would want on the pitch then has to juggle the last 5 spots but he has the numbers know to do it. Louth to win by 3 v Carlow .

Derek McGuire will be back in the Louth squad for training this week. There is great competition for places. Louth are looking to win four matches in a row in the league for the first time since 2006. The last time these sides played in the league Louth beat Carlow by 13 points down in Dr Cullen Park in 2016.

Loyalblue there usually is a supporters bus that leaves from Dundalk and picks up in Drawda. Hopefully the admin will let this through. Contact Brian Matthews . Let me know how you get on.

Things are certainly beginning to look good for Louth. A win against Carlow and a home win against Westmeath might ensure promotion. Both wins are very doable. The half-forward line needs strengthening. Competition for places on the team is certainly hotting up. What is the best team for Saturday? What about;
Sheeky
Donohue
Carolan
Craven
Maguire
B. Duffy
Williams
Durnin
Califf
McDonnell
McEneaney
E. Duffy
Burns
Mulroy
Byrne

I cant see how you would change the team from Sunday Duffy for the injured McKeever but the rest should remain Brannigan deserves another chance to keep his position and Downey cant be left out .

I agree totally Ped, things are certainly looking up. What a great position to be in to have a strong panel and hard selection choices to make. I agree Jim Mc needs to start along with Eoghan Duffy. Their introduction was crucial in turning momentum Louth's way, and the half forward line was struggling in the first 25 minutes. It is very hard not to include Derek Maguire and whilst John Clutterbuck has not done much wrong, I don't think he was undroppable after Sunday. He missed a point that he should have got and looked a little casual once or twice. I still rate him and it is a tough call between himself, Anthony Williams and Derek Maguire. In relation to Ryan Burns, he was one of our best against Laois, so it is hard not to include him again. As it turns out, I think James Califf is not available on Saturday night, so your point about keeping Ciaran Downey No8CUTN can also be accommodated. I would go Sheeky, Donoghue, Carolan, Craven, Maguire, B Duffy, Williams, McDonnell, Durnin, E Duffy, McEnaney, Downey, Burns, Mulroy, Byrne. Brannigan and Nally to come into the forwards with 20 to go. It would be a great statement to beat Carlow down there after the humiliation of last May. Here we go for Four in a Row!

Clogherheads finest Padraig Rath is getting hitched this weekend so that's probably why Califf is unavailable. Best of luck to Pop and his wife to be on their wedding day.

James Califf, Conor Early and Conall Mc Keever are all ruled out for the Carlow match for one reason or another. This is the team that I would start against Carlow on Saturday night.

4. James Craven
5. Anthony Williams
6. Bevan Duffy
7. John Clutterbuck
8. Tommy Durnin
9. Andy Mc Donnell
10. Conor Branigan
11. Ciaran Downey
12. Eoghan Duffy
13. Jim Mc Eneaney
14. Sam Mulroy
15. Declan Byrne

Big game if they want to go up! A few more missing it looks like but not beyond them. 2 week break after this and I reckon the large pitch could suit Louth!

I agree with most of Ollie 's team but would make one personal change and a positional switch.
Give Alan McGauley another chance in goals. He performed very well in the Byrne Cup games. He stopped well and we won most of his kick -outs. That was not the case in recent weeks.

I would switch Jim and Tommy. It is important we catch and hold the ball in the middle. This suits Jim and his distribution is first class. Tommy and Sam around the square could cause havoc. I know they were flying in last Sunday but I doubt if it will be that easy again for a while.
