Yesterday a small club in West Tipp brought Kerry Kingpins and favourites for the All Ireland to their knees.
Gooch was out marked by Ciaran McDonald, his understudy Casey was destroyed by Mark 'sparky' Hanley, Cathal Dillon beat Brosnan up a stick, Barry Grogan looked like the All Star on display.
The Tipperary Nationalist gave a quarter of one page to the build up to this game, afraid perhaps of giving a club from the west too much coverage because their not moyle rovers.
The Aherlow team displayed courage, skill and totally outplayed their counterparts only to be denied by a referee.
The Aherlow team should have 8 fellas on the county team. Its about time that people including this forum start to recognise the achievements of small clubs like Aherlow trying to put tipp on a footballing map. The tipp hurling team is a great team but they have endless resources to operate from unlike their footballing counterparts. Clubs like Aherlow believe they have a right to contest Munster finals and rightly so, its about time people start to get behind them!

in fairness heard aherlow were hard done by given dat time ad already elapsed wen da equaliser was kicked to force extra time.. fair play t a tipp football team to put it up to one of the powerhouses of kerry football, and were very unlucky not to come away with the spoils... Crokes were without doubt the form team coming into this game, but it jus goes to show that clubs within inferior inter county teams are well able t mix it with the best on da day.. lik for example, luk at last yrs all ireland with galls of antrim, and kilmurray ibrickane of clare

Aherlow were oustanding last Sunday and should have won the game, but they did not get fair play from the ref. Why is is always the underdog that gets the raw deal. They were a credit to Tipp football and Ciaran McDonald and Barry Grogan were easily the 2 best players on the field. No doubt, Aherlow are extremely disappointed after last Sunday, but they should be extremely proud of their display. They showed the heart and courage that will bring Tipperary football up the rankings.
