New Monaghan Jersey?

(Oldest Posts First)

Just saw the Monaghan jerseys are reduced on the o'neill website to €28. Is there possible a new jersey in the pipeline? As far as I remember the current jersey was released in 2012, its surely time for an update?

I believe that the current jersey may have had its first outting at Casement Park in the 2013 Ulster SFC quarter final v. Antrim....and for what it's I think it's our best ever, especially when Rory wears the green v Cavan.

From memory, discussion of its introduction led one seasoned contributor to this Forum to undertake to "run round Clones in the nip" were Monaghan to lift the Anglo-Celt tha year. The rest, as they say, was hysteria.

I imagine a New Jersey is being introduced to incorporate the new tier two sponsor.

New Jersey will be released before the Championship, order was put in just before Christmas.

Be nice to get a retro design something like the 1985 jersey, plain white with the 3 blue stripes down the shoulders.

Surely there wont be a new jersey.
The current one is less than 3 years old. the previous jersey lasted 5 years.
id expect this one to last until the end of the year at least.
Oneills jerseys aint cheap, so replacing this summer wouldn't be welcome in many parent's pockets

Will be sorry to see the back of the current shirt. Associated with some great achievements and experiences.

Would love to see the kind of shirt Hardcore describes, I just pray they don't make a hames of any new design.

It is a lot of money to fork out but look at the soccer clubs who change every season and have 3 different jerseys............

Since the gaa jersey came out to buy in the early 90's i can remember how many we had. Please correct me if im wrong.

All made by O'Neills but werent for sale in many sports shops like the are now.
1991/92 Monaghan Poultry...................One jersey
1993/94 Westenra Arms Hotel..............Two jerseys
1995/96 Riverdale Hotel.........................One Jersey
1997/98 JG Kelly supplies.......................One jersey
2000/05 Harte Peat.................................Two jerseys
2005/09 FKM............................................One jersey
2009/16 Investec.....................................Two jersey

So 10 jerseys since 1991 and 5 since 2000 when it became a fashion to wear the jersey everywhere!

From what I've seen, it looks like they're keeping the current one but removing the "Muineachan" as Gaeilge on the back and replacing it with "FKM". Not too happy with that.

I see Mansy wearing the new jersey at the championship launch today.

Based on that photo on the Ulster GAA site for the launch of the Championship, the new jersey appears quite similar to the old one.
Smaller blue "shoulders", a pinstripe V on the front perhaps ? etc.

If that proves to be the case - minor variations on a decent theme rather than breaking the mould - means the (now old) jersey will still appear just as relevant. This might just make life slightly easier for the many who weren't relishing the prospect of childers' expectantations.

Most importantly they haven't got it drastically wrong. (Now do it in green, as we dont want goalkeeper colour clash v Cavan at Croker come September)

Knoxboya, wouldn't it be great if we had a problem like that in September.

That event would herald what my dear old Uncle would have called "an ojus feed o' drink".

Bring it on.

If you can't afford to buy your kids the new jersey.............don't.
My kids will ask and they will be told "no".

It seems the new jersey is elusive.
Was in Lifestyle Sports in Monaghan Town yesterday and was told that a "release date" still not confirmed.

Bless me Father....I was in Cavan town yesterday.... and saw the new jersey in the Sports Shop.

The green sleeve stripe is a nice touch but can't help preferring the simplicity of the old version.

It's my fault.

I bought the new jersey in Cavan.
Bring back the old one.
