Intermediate Final

Clondegad v St. Breckan's @ Miltown Malbay, Saturday

At the start of the year, both these sides were seen as serious contenders for the Talty Cup. Now several months later these two have advanced to the final producing some impressive performances along the way. In fact both these sides met in the U21 B final a few weeks ago with St. Breckan's winning through. A number of the two teams that day will see action in this final. On that occasion Clondegad suffered a bow in the run up to the final when Paudge McMahon was ruled out after picking up an injury in their Intermediate semi final win over Corofin, he will also miss out on this final due to injury. Despite his absence they still posses a strong side and will start as favourites with players like Clare senior's Gary and Shane Brennan, and Brian Carrigg along with Paddy O'Connell, Ken Kelly and team captain Kieran Browne in their side. St. Breckan's are another side seen as capable of taking on the big boys up in senior. They just like Clondegad contain some good young players in their side and qualified for the final after seeing off Kildysart after a replay. The men from Lisdoonvarna will start as underdogs and will hope to overcome Clondegad in a final for the second time this year. They have a nice blend of youth and experience with players such as Dinny O'Driscoll, Pat Nagle, Rapahel Considine, Conor and Sean Cormican and Conor Howley to pick from. It has the makings of a good and close contest with Clondegad expected to overcome Breckan's and claim their first Intermediate title since 1944.
