Congratulations to Luke O Tooles U14 Hurlers

(Oldest Posts First)

Luke O' Tooles U14 hurlers (Tinahely + Aughrim) went up north to Down at the weekend and captured the Div 4 All Ireland Hurling Feile title. A mangificent achievement by these boys and their mentors. They won all of their games, which included semi final win over Mount Sion of Waterford and a final win over Blackwater of Wexford. They also beat teams from Clare, Down and Mayo in the earlier stages.

Congratulations to all involved and hopefully they'll stick together over the coming years to develop an adult team down there and to supplement a Wicklow Minor hurling team in 3 or 4 years and subsequently the Wicklow Senior team.

Carnew won the Div 5 title - probably not new ground for them, but a great achievement nonetheless - congratulations to all involved there also.

Green shoots and all that !

Unbelievable achievement for Wicklow hurling. Are these results an insight for what's to come for Wicklow hurling? Here's hoping! Continuous support from Wicklow County Board is a must.

Absolutely fantastic achievement, huge credit to all involved with Luke O'Tooles. Some might say that it is only division 4, but they beat opposition from traditional hurling strongholds such as Clare, Waterford and Wexford along the way. It's great to see a Wicklow team not only competing with but beating this kind of opposition. I've said it before on other threads that Wicklow as county have much greater potential to progress in Hurling than in Football if we could only change the mindset of some of the decision makers in the county and perhaps secure a little investment from the GAA. If we could get even a fraction of the investment into Wicklow Hurling that the GAA's pet project aka "Dublin Hurling" has gotten over the past 10 -15 years then we'd certainly be able to compete with the likes Westmeath, Carlow, Antrim, Laois etc

Well done to both Luke O'Tooles and Carnew. It should also be noted that St Earnan's - a group team from Westmeath the Division 1 Féile title. What an achievement. It shows us what can be achieved - not only by a less than traditional county and by a group team.

Congrats to both teams ..just what wicklow hurling needed to get back to where it was (carnew won back to back division 3 feiles nearly 30 years ago and wicklow reps were promoted to division 2 for a while)
