Just want to add the congrats to the other two lads here...good tough battle, thought the 9 point margin wasn't an accurate reflection on the contest, but can have no issues with the end result. Certain sections of the national media were a bit too quick to write off that Kerry team, arguably one of the best ever and certainly one of the most consistent in the modern era. Average age of our team is only 24 (I think), they'll hopefully learn a lot from it and try to push on next year...raw but potential. The Kingdom though are the finished article, good luck in the final.

Disappointment of sunday is still strong but we can have no complains that the better team won. It goes to show that when dec o sullivan can be kept scoreless the likes of cooper can step up and announce his arrival at this years championship. I thought we could have been closer to kerry but it goes to show if we ever neat kerry again we will have to have all 15 players having the game of their lives and kerry to be not at yer best.

Good luck in the final and the kerry fans I met on sunday were a plesure to talk to as always.

Congrats to our Kerry boys on the win and yes the mayo boys are really super but that is no surprise as I had great Mayo mates in London during the
sixties the grandest lads you could ever meet real sports men ( the Glavies Peter and Tom, Jim Lydon, Jim O'Brien and Eddie browne) we used to meet around Craven park getting the bus to the Galty I often wonder and would love to know where they are now ?

Just came on this post completely by accident. Don't know if mikeen is still on Hoganstand but I know the lads he mentioned and if he's interested, and the Admin will allow, I could put him in touch with at least one of them.

If he is he might be under a different name maybe, as he hasn't posted under that name in a long time. But fair play to you .

Thanks KingdomBoy1. Probably a bit of a long shot really as posters come and go at an alarming rate. Anyway it was worth a try. Those lads were in England back in the sixties so I'd say it would be nice to have a bit of a reunion. Mikeen was probably teaching our lads how to play back then and we still haven't managed to catch up to your fellas. We still live in hope though, one of these years............

yes the most of the boys are sound I have lived in London for the past 30 years and met some great ones ..but I must say the younger ones have a bit of a chip on there shoulder they seem too think they have a god given right too win all Irelands ..and there is a few on the mayo team who think the same ..there names are Kerry names ..they take the hard stuff so far but cannot get the job done when it comes too the boil ..

I was at the under 21 game in Tralee the other night and I thought the Kerry lads were a bit unlucky not too get extra time at least ..yes cork were bigger but we have far more skill than them and when our lads bulk up in the years ahead we will be far ahead of cork in senior terms

After my post the other day mikeen came on a Mayo forum trying to leave some details but the Admin blocked his phone number( which is understandable) so I'm not sure how I can give him the information he needs to get in touch. What I can tell him is that the two Jims are currently living in Mayo ,Eddie still lives in London and the two brothers moved back to live in Dublin. Sadly Pete died in 1978 but Tom still lives in Artane and the fact that his surname is fairly unusual and he has a landline might be of some help. My apologies Kerry lads for intruding on your forum as you have a League final to prepare for. For what it's worth I think you are the only ones with the forwards to put manners on the Dubs this summer. To beat them you will have to match them for fitness and figure out a way to negate Cluxtons kick outs. I don't think the League final will tell us much but the All Ireland semi final has the potential to be a classic. I'd say best of luck but then you lads don't usually rely on luck.
