Not a lot to be said that hasn't already been. Not sure if we've made any progress really. I know we've new players and they'll need time and a hole lot of other excuses can be made. For me he's not up to it, however I can not think of a replacement that would touch the job with a barge pole. So we have Liam for two more years and maybe he will prove me wrong, well hopefully he will.

Cant understand hou you can say we have not made progress. At least we were competitive this year in the championship. The one dissappoint for me would be the league, but maybe we were doing serious physical training during this time?

I am glad he got it. Anyone who says we didnt make progress in the last 2 years clearly wasnt a supporter during Colm Bonner's era. The lack of discipline, effort, heart and care was absolutely shambolic. This has been replaced by a fitter team, uncomitted players have been weeded out and that is what he had to do. If results were all anyone looked at, would Daly be still managing Dublin? Also Liam has blooded new players every year and I have high hopes for this team going forward.

But...there is still massive progress to be made and number 1 target for Dunne must be the league next year. No more of this 'we dont care about the league'. We will learn more about these lads hurling Tipp, Galway, Kilkenny in the top league. Ignore this years freak results, these counties are still the benchmark. Also we need to still develop a gameplan but I dont believe we need to go tippy tappy, utilising Guiney and R Jacob worked well this year when the right ball was played into them.

Also we need to slightly row back on our physicality. We conceded too many frees this year and our discipline let us down, but that is a far cry from the gutless lack of heart during the Bonner era.

But I hope the blooding of new players will continue apace with Conor Mc, Conor Devitt, Liam Ryan, Ian Byrne and Shane O'Gorman to name a few.

Final point, was there any merit in trying to find someone else to do the job, costing the county board a fortune and achieving the same results? I dont believe so. I think JJ will get the job but he'll wait till after Dunne has blooded these players to reap the rewards.....I hope.

Verdict: Happy.

improving alright but my one worry is bar a draw with dublin we have not beaten anyone of any good, i expect us to push on in 2014 championships wise although that will be decided by the draw imagine getting Kilkenny in the first round away in Nowlan Park!!!!!!!

bogstandard, Dublin would have said the same this year! I remember coming out of Parnell Park and Dublin supporters saying 'you might be better off'....

We have got to stop looking for the simple draws etc and start believing we can beat the likes of Kilkenny. Our minors and U-21s in recent years have shown no such inhibition, it's time our seniors did the same.

difficult not to lament the ifs and buts of what could have been looking at clare in the final.

perfect10 u dont really think we would be in an all ireland final if we had caught clare do u? we have made progress under liam certainley, but we are a long way still from qualifying for senior hurling all ireland in my opinion.

I dont think we would be in AI final.....but it shows what we need to do. Be patient, give youth its chance and develop a gameplan. If we can do these 3, given that hurling is increasingly becoming a young mans game, who knows. Gone is the day when lads at 30 years of age are dominating the game. We need to try get the pick of our U-21s on board here as soon as possible.

We have to remember that Clare had their brakthrough team in 2009 and again last year yet are puilling though now. We need to give our own lads a chance to develop and hurl rather than putting pressure on them to be our saviors.

Getting out of that cursed 2nd Division or Division 1B or whatever it may be is paramount next year.
