Mayo Minors 2015

(Oldest Posts First)

Gilvarry has done a great job over the last two years but it looks like he is heavily to blame for this year's failure. Overtraining of players at minor level is very dangerous and I admit to being sceptical about this when I first heard but it seems several of the 2013 and 2014 team are now having long-term injury problems with the training to blame.

I have no doubt that we would have put up a much better fight had the best players in the county being on the team against Galway last week. I don't know why they weren't on the panel, it could be the players decision not to be there, but to name but three players that are surely good enough to have made the team are Colin Gill (man of the match in U21 A Final last year), James McCormack (also starred for Claremorris U21 last year) and Darragh Murphy of Cill Chomain who is a serious talent and has shown that in the Intermediate championship.
