The fact is Barney that Dublin winning an All Ireland is not a big deal for the vast majority of people living in the capital , particlarly amoung younger people. That's not becuase they are complacent or so used to Dublin winning; they are simply not interested.

Ahh poor ould Pet hasn't slept a wink since. People seem to forget that TSG game had a huge influence - there were several incidents that they highlighted that were subsequently brought before the CCCC as a direct consequence .

There's 1.4m live there so the number of ye going to home games was always a small proportion

I'm sure Connolly has said loads of things in interviews but you agree that it was a foul and cynical. Well both players went to ground with Lee being the offender, could have gotten away without a card but don't think he could bitch too much with the black card sanction either. Sounds unusual for a club not joining in but after dominating for so long, the All Ireland novelty is probably gone and it just doesn't have the same excitement as it once did. I'm sure if the Dubs went on a ten year barren spell the interest would be huge again. And the other side of it is like any big city, Dublin is probably a victim of its own success. You then go to places like Charlestown in the west of Ireland where there will be huge colour and excitement in an All Ireland build up but they can't hold on to their young people and have been crippled by emigration for the past 100 years.

In my area there are more tricolours and bunting on show for the ladies' team than blue and navy. I would love to see new teams in the final, but we have Dublin v Kerry, the best two sides, so I will tune in. Think the Dubs might take Sam.

I agree with realdub. This one really matters for a number of reasons. Several Dublin players James Mac, Mick Fitz etc will have 9 All_irelands which elevates them beyond the status of greats like Spillane etc. Dublin players will have achieved the ultimate accolade Some of these Dublin greats may well retire after this and this will be a fabulous way to bookend their remarkable careers. They'll go out on a high. It's against Kerry. And we still over them despite our recent successes against them . Successive Kerry teams inflicted a lot of pain on Dublin and an All_Ireland win against this great footballing county always is very sweet indeed. Then there are other personal reasons. Like spending many summer holidays in Kerry silently suffering the slagging when Dublin had their ***** regularly handed to them on a plate by successive Kerry teams. :-D. Derry missed chance their issues Kerry had more when came down to it agree Ilford important but they have other good players who can step it up. I don't see Kerry being toast we see sunday
