It not down to me though, I didn't have any say on schedule whereby senior All Ireland finals are now shoehorned into July, And yet most club senior championships still don't finish until October and provincials in November/December so i don't see the point of HQ rushing things . Do you believe this final is getting top billing like a match of it's stature should? Anyway hopefully it's decent final and one not won long before the final whistle like it was with the Hurling final last weekend. You don't allow him influence the game like Derry did in the semi final, If Dublin win tomorrow it will be thanks to a strong defensive performance as much if not more than anything else.

It's getting top billing around here. The occasion itself has been completely diluted by the leadership of the GAA. They have changed the make up and character of the day very much for the worst. Dropping the minor final has been a disastrous mistake. I agree with you the season should be extended. You are also right about the club championships. Ours don't start until the last weekend in August. I don't agree that the final is anti climactic. I'm going to it and I have no doubt that the atmosphere in Dublin tomorrow will be electric all day. Hopefully the match will live up to expectations.

I'm looking forward to the game but I don't think it'll be as close as everyone is predicting by the end. The backbone of this Dublin team have nothing to prove and their legacy is formed already. To win one more All Ireland would be their biggest win yet in my opinion and I can see why they're putting everything into it. The reality is a lot of this Dublin team were at the centre of those epic Mayo battles six or seven years ago. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 30/07/2023 09:12:56 2497654 Link 1 |

No it's been a very quiet build up. For all the schedule arguments the one week gap between the two finals is underselling the products. The Kerry, Derry semi final rightly took over the media to the Wednesday post game with no space for the hurling build up. Then Limerick got good coverage on their four in a row achievement before the media started to concentrate on the football final on Wednesday and mainly Thursday. It's no good for promoting hurling or football. If the GAA don't want later finals at least somehow find space to have a two week gap between the hurling and football finals. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 30/07/2023 09:34:11 2497655 Link 1 |

I think they could extend it into August but you are going to run into clashes with other sporting events no matter when it's held. You have a rugby World Cup this Sept-Oct. Premier league back from August. When the AIs were in September the club championships had already started in most counties. I heard a fella from League of Ireland talking about how they are envious of the GAA at the moment as it basically has July to itself and completely dominates the media in that month with LOI not able to get a look in.

I'll be surprised if we get a margin that wide. Two teams in top shape in fitness and conditioning and if Dublin are bringing on the likes of Kilkenny, McCaffrey, Rock they won't be weakening the team. As for the new Kerry team Shane Ryan; Graham O'Sullivan, Jason Foley, Tom O'Sullivan; Paul Murphy, Tadhg Morley, Gavin White; Diarmuid O'Connor, Jack Barry; Dara Moynihan, Seán O'Shea, Stephen O'Brien; Paudie Clifford, David Clifford, Paul Geaney. Those highlighted started championship games for Kerry in 2018. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 4071 - 30/07/2023 14:31:40 2497699 Link 1 |

Maybe so but compared to the epic battles the backbone of this Dublin team have battled through there is no comparsion. It takes a team a few years to get to the top of the game and in that sense this is Kerry's time with a new team to win All Irelands. They have one in the bag already. Dublin have brought a few players back and have a lot of years and big games under their belts. This is why despite all the talk I just can't see Dublin competing with this Kerry team for 75minutes. If they do and manage to win another All Ireland against a Kerry team just starting it would be their best win yet. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 30/07/2023 15:10:52 2497706 Link 0 |
