Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "Nah, it's not a question of luxury...it's about being smart! I'll put it this way.....is there any team in Munster capable of beating Limerick TWICE in this year's championship? I don't think so (and I dont think there's many who would think that!). The most important thing for Waterford is to avoid a hammering. It's not at all a question of throwing in the towel , but if the game is going against them not to fret over it. After that they can move onto their must-win games against the other Munster teams, which will be must-win games for their opponents too."
You said Waterford tried too hard against limerick last year in the round Robin. I just dont agree or understand your point. They were beaten by a puck of a ball with the game right there to be won in injury time and finn made a huge interception at the death . They didn't try too hard is the point I'm making. There was a match to win and they came damn close to winning it.

Missed the first 10 mins of Galway and Wexford but it's a shame I didn't miss the rest of it as well. Awful stuff for the first round of championship. Hopefully not a sign of things to come. I'd imagine both teams will have a lot to ponder this evening

Putrid stuff! Two bad teams. Home advantage swung it for Galway, even though if Wexford were on the pitch by themselves, they'd still probably find a way to lose it!

The only positive for both teams is that they cannot be as bad the next day. Or can they…?

For sure Tiobraid! Alot of learnings for both. For us it was the 1st game out with alot of players with very little hurling done for us this year. Captain and Vice Captain injured and unable to play at the last minute. Think we will get better as the year goes on once we can keep injury free.

25 mins into the 2nd half, Limerick 6 up despite being down a man.

Poor match, very stop/start.

Waterford look very average.

Hegarty looked shook after being pushed by the Waterford back room guy. I thought Limerick players didn't do "pretending to be hurt"!

He was smart and got him sent off. Was that your attempt at insulting Limerick?

You obviously weren't on this forum to see the reaction to hegartys sending off against Clare in Ennis last year.

In my opinion, this Limerick side are probably the best to ever play the game..

Waterford had everything going for them today and if they were any good they should have won. Plenty of controversial stuff today- poor referee, blatant over carrying, plenty of high/late hits etc.
The door was wide open for Waterford today but they have no belief. Question is....have they shot their load too early?

I like Limerick but don't start to smell yere selfs at our expense. We have plenty believe and let's see who gets closer to ye. I don't dewell too much on what happens in the fastest game in the world but the ref could have sent Flanagan off also. Congratulations to Limerick a great team.

Tipp are going to be a thorn in everyone's side this year. Limerick were typically cool under pressure. Hard luck to Waterford who wasted a lot of chances. Munster is going to be brutal as usual.

Job done for Limerick. Lots to work/improve on, which is a good thing. Waterford has some great hurlers; big strong, physical men too. They just seem to lack that something to make it all gel together. Hope they regroup to take down Cork next weekend.

Limerick winning made me happy but not as much as Offaly beating Meath. Up the BIFFOS!

Players safety has to be first and foremost I'm games. Whatever about getting a belt from either player on the pitch, that Waterford official who went out of his way to have a go/push/strike on Hegarty shouldn't be let near a dugout again. He had no business whatsoever getting involved.

Referee did a good job considering what he had to put up with. All the mouthing from players and indiscipline especially from Limerick.

Good win for Tipp. Cahill has brought them back nicely from the disaster of last year. Playing with confidence and scoring goals for fun. Last year they probably would have collapsed after Clare had cut the nine points to just four at half time but they never really looked like been beaten at any stage and might have gotten another few goals.
