Replying To Canuck:  "He would be expected to call blatant trips. We were terrible and Cork gave us a lesson but that was a pivotable point of the first half but then again he is okay with kicking also. I agree with you about hard it is to ref with all this feigning and try to get an opponent sent. These players need to be censored by giving them an un-sportsman like yellow card."
It wasn't really though, Waterford had been atrocious long before that incident!
And to be honest, Waterford are known to have "slippery feet" for a good few years before so its a case of live by sword die by it. Tough luck.

What was also odd, was that the Sunday game highlights didn't show Aaron Shanagher's brilliant point, Clare's final score.
Among all the scores shown, it was very strange that it was left out. It was arguably the best score of the day visually, and also turned out to be the clinching score given the late goal conceded.
I get it there's time pressure on the highlight packages, but if ever there was a must-show score, that was it.
Not a complaint, but I just thought it was strange.

I could be totally wrong but I think Tipperary will beat Cork this coming weekend. Cork's results since 2017 have shown that when the opposition go at them there are goals to be had.

I think Tipp will bring a different challenge than Waterford with more physicality, more tackling, diagonal balls in the forwards and goals. I think the Cork full back line will have their hands full against the Tipp full forward line.

Even though we've had the better of the clashes against Tipp over the last six seasons and despite what we have won they have consistently bagged goals against us. Between 2018-2021 Tipp hit 10 goals v Limerick in 5 championship games. They hit 5 v Clare in round 1. I think that will be the difference.

Replying To Midleton:  "I have to agree with you about Joyce's trip on the Waterford player going through. I agreed with the trip because a goal chance was on, but I was amazed there was no free.

Referees seem to miss plenty of what seems obvious fouls those days, but I'm not sure what the solution is. I have always felt that cards were a bad idea and hearken back to the days of my youth when 4 personal fouls resulted in simply a free and a warning that you would be dismissed for a fifth. I remember it being implemented just once. Striking an opponent with the fist or the hurley meant instant dismissal. I also felt that referees were much more respected in those days."
Midleton I am not going to pick on one instant as we were not at the races and any of the so called second tier teams would have beaten us Sunday. No excuse either for the Limerick effort the week before causing the problem.
I just don't understand when you see the refs positioning how he did not see it and he has a team out there with him. This is not his first rodeo when it comes to strange decisions with us.
The tactics of our manager had much more cause for concern than the ref. Half the team in yere square when Billy Nolan trying to pick out a player. The best tactic Davy has is confusing his own players and this anticipation of what he has up his sleeve is a joke. It is up some where else.
Sadly we are in decline and looking a lot like the 70's and 80'. Will spring the odd surprise performance when the opposition are off form or asleep. The two young Fitzgerald will be stars going forward with no support cast. We are now back trying players that Derek McGrath got the best out of and Cahill tried to elevate a bit higher. All sounds negative but no point in denial. Out with mercenary managers and put the resources into developing our own because they are the only ones that ticked the box in any of our All-Ireland wins at any level. Cork, Tipp, Kilkenny, Clare and now Limerick know that is the only way. Galway and Dublin have done the same as us and how has that gone so far ?

Galway and Kilkenny would be the favourites ok. But so were Limerick last weekend. Favourites don't always win. Hopefully!!!!

Replying To Oldtourman:  "Well even if they do not win another match, this fine Limerick team has nothing left to prove. Apart From Kilkenny, they are arguably the most successful hurling side in almost eighty years, going all the way back to Corks four in a row team of the forties. By winning a three in a row, with four in five years and four Munsters in a row, they have done something no other side, except that great KK team, has done in any five year period, in all that time.
Considering they have only the sixth highest hurling population in the country and were down for so long before 2018, this is some achievement.
Incidentally, I do not think they played that poorly last Saturday Night. There was nothing between those two sides last year, so Clare were always liable to turn us over at some stage."
That has to be the best piece I have read on Saturdays game. We are owed nothing by this Limerick team, and we owe them a lot for the past five years of glory for our county.

I noticed the same, couldn't understand the omission as I was looking forward to seeing it again.

The trip occurred 7 minutes 30 seconds into the game when the scoreline was 3 points to 1 in favour of Cork so not possible for Waterford to have been "atrocious long before that incident". Canuck is correct -- it was a pivotal moment. Instead of it being 3 points to 2 points it ended up 4 points to 1 point straight from the puck out.

Cork know this weekend is huge for them. I agree with a lot of those points. Tipp will bring an intensity to the match Saturday after the extra weeks break that'll be very challenging for cork. If cork lose they then have to go to ennis and the gaelic grounds.

Replying To ExiledInWex:  "No there is no need for a new stadium at all, a bit of a revamp of the Mackey Stand would be a good use of money was all I was saying. The open side looked like a fine structure and its where I would go in future but I doubt i'll be back for many games."
Yes, I see your point Exiled. The Mackey Stand should never have been designed like it was, but a major overhaul of that pitch would not be justified either. I would absolutely not approach JP for any more money as the man supports so many good causes in Limerick, and elsewhere, that it would be very poor form to approach him for more money again.

Tipp at 11/8 are possibly a good thing to beat Cork. Surprised at the price given the relative merits of both of their wins. Clare clearly way better than Waterford, and dareisayit, the final score in Ennis flattered them. Tipp serious proposition this year.

Even a stand a la the one in Wexford Park wouldn't cost a bucket load and would suffice for all the games it needs.

I thought it was later, but Waterford were atrocious for the entire 70 minutes.
But as I said already, if a county has players well know to take a tumble, if big decisions go against them that's the other half of the equation. Some of the worst diving in GAA I have seen in the past 10 years has been by Waterford players.

Conor Gleeson up to his old tricks again on Sunday too.

Missing for a couple of days and interesting to read comments.no complaints here beaten by the team that really looked like they wanted it more.thought the huge difference was the return of David Fitz,he was a powerhouse and a huge loss v tipp.might be wrong in this but some of Limerick boys seem to struggle with fitness..felt ref dealt with came very well as some of the hits were huge,he was willing to let things develop and not blow whistle every 30 seconds..we have to be extremely thankful for Nicky, his 2 saves in first half were top class..Clare now no longer the one man team, forwards will threaten any back line..what Clare have to do is back it up with another huge performance and not to have left it all in Gaelic grounds..Munster is now wide open with Waterford looking out unless they bring 2 performances out of this world..they were woeful on Sunday ..ref I that game I felt was very hard on Waterford..looking forward to rest of championship..

Tbh the final score flattered Tipp not Clare Barney. Tipp had over 10 points gifted to them. Agree though I think Tipp will beat Cork.

Do you think? You may be right, but I thought Tipp had basically started to drop the reins in last minutes as they were home and hosed.

My Tipp DNA always makes me as similarly blind spotted about the cousins as about the Dubs maybe!

Referee diden't help Waterford's cause missed good goal chances but hugely disappointing overall Fans seem to have no faith in team or management. They don't suit restrictive tactics IMO they were hugely entertaining in the 90s swashbuckling type of hurling.

No disrespect to Leinster but Munster is a real Bear pit you could have played 4 all Ireland winning performances and still not have won the Munster Final.

Limerick V Tipperary could be a classic

Well, until the Munster counties come back with a structure which 1. Gives everybody an equal playing field and 2. Promotes opportunities for counties such as Westmeath/Kildare/etc to progress, I'm afraid its cry me a river.

At the moment, as Brian Carroll from Offaly once said the ladder is pulled up behind the Munster counties with no relegation risk and a structure which suits them down to the ground. If 1 county is collateral damage in that, well tough.
