yeah I think they ran a freshers and 2nd year competition last year as the lads in 2nd year missed out the year before with Covid lockdowns, 2nd year players were allowed play fitzgibbon too.

See another new 'anniversary' jersey for the year. The only thing it has in common with the Young Ireland from 1893 is the colour!

Think they didn't really need another jersey to be honest that will be worn once!!!

Think so. 1 of our lads played 1st team Fitzgibbon last year and will be playing again in it this year.

It's not even the same green!!! Apparently it will be worn for the whole month of January by the footballers and hurlers .

Would have much rathered they released the jersey they wore against Cork last year in the league for general sale. That was a beauty of a jersey 93 style

Very poor effort.

The 4 in row jersey knocks this one out of the ball park.

As another poster said the 1993 design was also a much better effort. This is a standard O'Neills design nothing innovative about it at all.

Very disappointing.

I don't always agree with you because your posts are usually very negative but I can't argue with you on this one!

This time last year there was 50 or more players in training and was cut to somewhere in the 35-40 region just before the league, don't know if that's the approach again or not.

And of course it's merely a coincidence that it's released now in time for Christmas

I think its a bit unnecessary overall myself but can't really be critical of this element, that's just living in the real world, there's a reason most autobiographies, new jerseys etc. are released this time of year.

It will sell more than that, a handy Christmas present for people and brought out at the right time of the year, just a pity it wasn't a proper replica of the old jersey, rather than just the colours of the old kit. Anyway jerseys won't win Leinster championships.

They ll sell ok. Lads collect that kinda stuff. Might have bought one if it hadve been like the original. Won't be buying that though.
