Corduff is part of the Carrickmacross Parish. I find it very interesting that patmouse used the term small parish, the only other time I seen it mentioned as that was by Seamus McEnaney in an interview with the Irish News in the build up to the ulster intermediate final. shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1948 - 25/01/2023 18:02:57 2454272 Link 1 |

The 5 clubs you have mentioned haven't many trophies to show for their on field activities these last few years I think you should stick to your golfing activities

Don't understand your golfing analog, but your knowledge of the criteria for club of the year is well below par.

Laughable that you think Corey didn't want Garland on the panel

Laughable that Corry doesn't have him on the panel. Garland must not be interested in playing for him

Good to see that currin are going to object the transfer of Mc Carron to scotstown. Its a joke to club football if it goes through.

McCarron to Scotstown. No surprise but will stoke the fires of many! Am I right in thinking Scotstown are already an amalgamation of a number of parishes, or is that just a rival fairytale of the masses ?! I suppose one more parish won't do any harm! Well I suppose with the Hughes being from around the Threemilehouse area, there is definitely some truth to that!

Love how you say 'playing for him' Do you realize the time and effort being on the county takes? The sacrifices? The missed family events? The missed holidays? Work sacrifices? This may not suit Garland and that is a pity but there is more to a young lads life than football. To say Corey doesn't want him or he's not interested in playing for Vinny is a massive statement when none of us know what is happening in Garland's life or what the story is with his county status. He could be working away, could be busy with studies, working a job to keep him at college and many other possibilities. Why do we all of a sudden jump to saying the manager doesn't want him? and jump to say that he has a problem with Vinny? Bit mad if ye ask me and I do wonder what gives you these impressions. I am sure there are numerous lads and ladies for that matter who are offered to play county but literally can not do it due to their life. They might love to but they can't. At the end of the day football isn't going to pay their mortgage or put them through college or pay for their kids college. This is all is a factor lets all just try think of these before blaming the player or management. Lets look forward to tomorrow and to seeing the players that we have on offer. The new guys raring to go, the older lads who owe us absolutely nothing pulling on that jersey for 'one more year' and the new management team nervous no doubt to see what comes. Lets be more positive. countymonaghan (Monaghan) - Posts: 289 - 27/01/2023 10:39:20 2454504 Link 4 |
Credit to the currin club digging the heels in there fighting for every small rural club in the county.. scotstown and jack probably thought that they would just role over and sign it… it's a very dark day for small clubs in general..gone are the days 1 life 1 club…General feeling is 1 of disgust so I can only imagine how currin feel being poached if their best player….

To be fair to Jack he owes that club absolutely nothing. He's taken them to the top of the county and been with them on the way back down. Looking at the panel of players around him, they are going to achieve absolutely nothing in the next few years and Jack only has a few years left.. why not let him rip away with scotstown for a few years, will only help the county team and won't affect Currin in the slightest. They'll go from winning 4 games a year with him to winning 2 without him..

To be fair to any player, they owe their club nothing. So why don't they all join the big successful gaa clubs in hope of success and winning a cup.

Think you'll find they owe their club plenty. It's their club and club members who maintain the pitches, clean the dressing rooms, wash the jerseys, coach them from the age of 8 years of age all for nothing but the love of the sport & club. Jack owes his club plenty. He's been treated very well and has been asked for nothing in return. What about the Scotstown player who's jersey he walks in and takes, what sort of message does that send to the young lad who's been togging out for Scotstown since a child only to have Jack McCarron walk in and take his place? Jacks saying he wants the move because he's father played for Scotstown, would he be as keen if his father played for Killeevan or the likes? What are you saying about killevan?

I hear what you're saying, and I suppose I'm just playing the devils advocate and trying to see things from Jack's perspective. I do think this knocks any chance of the county championship being a real competition on the head for the next few years. With Finlays retirement, ballybay will struggle to hold onto their crown and every other team has regressed in the last few years whereas scotstown will only now be stronger than ever. It heaps a lot of pressure on scotstown now too, a good run in the ulster championship is the bare minimum for this group now, anything less would have to be considered a failure for the year ahead. He's trying to say that daddy bear has a serious dislike towards killeevan so he was never going to play with them….
