I don't think there's anyone on the panel from them teams bar Carrick with OHanlon. Maybe players want to stay with their clubs. Starting Kelly (past it) over OHanlon n bringing Oconnell on before Gallagher n not play Darren Hughes( not injured) are questionable choices. Definitely missed Hughes in midfield when they took lennon off

Why do Monaghan keep repeating the same problems in every match.. I was hoping with the new management, some of these would be addressed.. Why can Rory Beggan not kick out to his right? when we were under pressure at the start of the second half, there was open men that could have taken the short kickout but he seem not able to do this..
Why does Conor McCarthy kick the ball the ball short in every game when shooting for a point.. !!!!! we are repeating the same mistakes time and time again.

O'Hanlon started and played the whole game and Kelly didn't come on...not sure if you were even watching the game???

Anyway, a learning curve for a lot of those lads at the weekend, and it'll be another monumental one this weekend away to the AI and league champions who'll surely be looking to go up a gear after their tough loss against Donegal.

I think we all will know that this year is going to be very difficult but it's very important to stay behind the team and management, especially when we're playing our old rivals Tyrone in the first round of the championship...hopefully we'll be able to find that but of a purple patch in games to secure D1 football again next year.

Bottom line is if we don't have any other midfield options bar what we seen Saturday evening we ain't winning many matches as teams will exploit our weakness in that area. Know the Hughes Mohan and possibly Leonard to come back in and they are needed. Our forwards are decent if a little lightweight but you could have David Clifford and a prime McManus up top makes no odds if we can't win primary ball.

Correct, Finty & Jack both sustained Hamstring injuries in the warm up & minute 1 of the game.
Big questions to be asked around team preparation.

That sagas only starting. He obviously doesn't want to stay in Currin but might have to play in where he resides.

What options do we have for midfield on Sunday ? At least 1 of the old guard will be needed back for this one

Dessie Ward & Darren hughes, drop Lavelle to 6.
Unsure if Daren is available though. Why Dessie wasn't started in midfield last wknd is beyond me.

"The evening dew left the pitch a bit wet and meant the ball was slippery... Management have to take the blame for that one. Another issue is McCarthy's height, because if he was 6'5 he'd win a lot more ball aerially due to having a height advantage over most defenders, but he's 5'10 max at best which Vinny Corey is absolutely to blame for. Also the sun set around 3 hours before throw in - so management have a lot of questions to answer there, the first one being why weren't the players wearing night vision goggles?!..Big questions to be asked of this management team, they're obviously not cut out for this level"

I thought that colm Lennon held his pwn in the middle. I would have liked to seen him stay on a bit longer on saturday. Possibly Gary mohan if he is anywhere near fit, maybe have Lavelle in the middle with Mohan.

believe it or not Mickod88 - Banty has also been blamed for this also, along with Brexit and the price of a pint

I'm very aware by now your a troll and obviously just here to push your own agenda, whatever that may be or your just a idiot.

Regardless, believe it or not people are very well paid to ensure players are in a position to play & perform each week so yes there are questions to be asked. To give you an example you might better be in a position to understand, If you don't collect the bins each week they people paying you are in a position to ask why.

To be fair to Mickod88 I think the point he's making is that the managers can only control so much and can hardly be blamed for the players picking up a knock on January.

As for agenda's I've noticed that every post you've made has been a criticism of the management or spreading rumours about the camp. You seem to be the one with an agenda.

Did anybody watch any Sigerson games involving Monaghan lads this week?
I seen St Mary's/ UCC game - Darragh Treanor was full back for St Mary's and he played well, scoring a crucial point for St Mary's. He's definitely got potential for Monaghan and I hope he gets his chance during NFL. Big Micheal McCarville scored an outrageous point where sold a dummy. He made a right chump of the UCC player. Overall he did alright.

I seen Davy Garland racked up a big score (0-9) for UCD as they went out and Sean Jones only lasted 11 minutes for DCU before he went off injured. Robbie McAllister scored 0-2 for TU Dublin in their win over UCD.

Who are the minor football management team this year? Anyone know if there are any prospects coming through at this grade?

Dermot Malone is manager. Not sure who the selector/coaches are. Some very good prospects coming though in this age group - Max McGinnity (Stephen's lad) is still underage and was top scorer in the ulster championship last year. Tommy Mallen from Scotstown is also still underage and impressed last year too.

Garland has been outstanding for UCD in the sigerson. I was at a couple of their matches. Even though they were knocked out in the quarter final last night after extra time by TUD, he should make the Sigerson team of the year. Kicked some fantastic frees last night on a windy night.
Interesting to see that three of the quarter finals went to extra time, and one to penalties. There will be some tired players playing next weekend.

Could not believe the size and physique of some of the players. A big change from my days playing days! They obviously must be spending more time in the gym rather than in the library?
Double header in Carlow next week I think for the semi finals?
