Couldn't agree more, not like the GAA to have double standards...

[9/8, 23:31] Nigel: Tyrone were originally seeking a 2 week extension, but HQ give them 6 days more. Its all up in the air again.
[9/8, 23:42] Nigel: Tyrone Co Chairman Michael Kerr expressed concern that fulfilling the fixture as it stands could be in contravention the of return to play protocol and may not be compliant with medical advice.
The protocol, agreed by the Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales Institute of Sport, and published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, recommends a 17-day gap between the end of an isolation period and a resumption of normal training.
"This is about player welfare, and it's clear that our players will not be ready to engage in a high-intensity Championship game so soon after being directly affected by this virus."

One week may not be enough. Can't rule out walkover?

Looks as though Tyrone might pull out of the semi final.

Would have doubts whether it will be even finished now.

That's hardly the point. Some would same about Tyrone.

Whole thing is a mess and if Tyrone pull out then it's probably curtains for the whole thing. And a roadmap of what life is going to be like for the foreseeable future as this hysteria ain't going anywhere.....

Tyrone requested a two week postponement, instead they got six days.

They don't have time to prepare for this game so is there any point in going ahead with it at all when they have no realistic chance to compete.

I think the GAA have jumped the gun here and should have considered things a little longer than a few hours .

If Tyrone pull out which I think they will given the short amount of time they were given to get everybody well never mind semi final fit, then the competition might be scrapped. For me there would be concerns if they rushed back too soon and played Kerry whilst possibly still symptomatic and it could be passed on to the Kerry lads unbeknownst to the Tyrone lads. It's a clusterfeck.

Surely though for the integrity of the game (even if the GAA didnt consider this with the one week delay) Tyrone could put out some sort of team and fulfil the fixture.
What would Tyrone fans prefer?
A make shift team to go out and play the semi and more than likely get hammered or a walkover?

What would Kerry fans prefer?
Hammer a Tyrone team or receive a walkover? At this rate the AvB inhouse games at the Kingdom might be more beneficial to them than playing this covid hit tyrone squad

Start up the club competitions now and they'll be time at the start of next year to finish the allireland football championship.

Looks like Tyrone are going to pull out. Can't possibly play the game with over half the panel not being able to play the game.

Heard chairman saying that it's a possibility they will have to pull out..it's a pity but I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened in other county squads..I dont think an extra 6 days is enough time for Tyrone to even think of competing with Kerry when all their players are isolating..

Agree with this. Very double standards on behalf of gaa. That been said I'm glad they eventually seen sense. Oh wait … 6 days ? That ain't long enough. The gaa have yet again made a complete and utter balls of a situation. The season should have been extended to end of September in the very beginning, and then full on club games allowing for back door games too.

We're almost in the middle of August? Surely every county in the country have started their league competitions. Most counties should have made a start on their championships as well.

Seems to me that Tyrone want to avoid a hiding. Fair enough if they are missing lads but I'm sure that there are more than 30 footballers in Tyrone.

Fulfill the fixture.

I think last year was different. The championship was being squeezed in as much as possible to get it played. As seen with various other GAA competitions if a week or two had been added in the final wouldn't have been played until June this year. But it was very harsh on Sligo - Mayo had 3 weeks between the Connaught final and their Semi Final game which suggests that the championship did have had a week or two flexibility.

I hope that all of the Tyrone players affected can recover quickly and do themselves justice against Kerry. Its clear that the GAA are going against public health advice by trying to rush this game through. An extra week to allow for recovery is a very small ask in these times.

Sad situation for Tyrone team and supporters. You raise a good point re the Sligo game last year.

Recover from what????

They are not even sick ffs. I'd lay serious money that none of them even knew they had it until they had to be tested under contact tracing.

It's three months since anyone died of the virus. And vaccination hasn't stopped it, whatever about easing the symptoms which are trivial among most people under retirement age anyway.

Would all the players who have tested positive have to isolate from eachother? Is there any reason they couldnt train with eachother if asymptomatic? And those who tested negative train away from them?
