I agree with you here. This is a gaa problem not just Tyrone s. I think it's unfair on Tyrone at the moment. If it was Kerry in Tyrone s situation I would like more time and I would expect the gaa to agree. This also affects Dublin and Mayo too. As a Kerryman I want my team to get to a final but not as a walkover or playing a 2nd string team. In fairness to Tyrone they played an Ulster final without 4 players and one of their managers. Tyrone have been very upfront and deserve a break.

The right call to delay the game 1 week, Facts need to be made public, How many Tyrone players actually have covid, How many are isolating because they have been in contact with covid cases, In other words theres nothing wrong with some of these guys, But we should press on the following week,

If you don't believe that the virus can kill or that it can make you gravely ill then I'm not going to remove you from your state of denial. I guess over 5000 have died from it in the South under strict lockdowns. That number would be 10,000 had we gone the UK lax approach route. But look, this is about football and there's no doubting that this is a very transmissible disease. The squad and their families need to be protected and they need time for it to be flushed out of the Tyrone setup, even if you think it is harmless or the flu. I'd give them the extra week.

The main reason why two weeks as opposed to six days would make a huge difference is that players would at least have a chance to do collective training and preparation for the game. If they tested positive last Saturday and assuming they are required to self-isolate for two weeks that means they would be going straight from the house to Croke Park to face Kerry which is totally unacceptable. On top of that, how could the management be expected to select a team without being able to assess whether the virus has had a negative impact on the players fitness, on top of the fact they couldn't train. These are the type of questions that Tyrone need to be putting to the GAA because good luck to whoever is trying to answer them. We haven't heard the end of this. This comes down to Kerry players safety as well. I'm sure they don't want to be in close contact with someone who was rushed out of the Covid timeframe.. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2947 - 10/08/2021 13:52:40 2369522 Link 2 |

Look, there's nothing that I can say that will make sense to you if you are a Covid denier. If you don't believe that this is very real then get yourself into a ER and chat with some nurses. My sister has been at the coal face for over a year. Anyway, Tyrone can't just be forced to play and who knows how sick they are, may have reduced lung capacity, asthmatics may be struggling but who knows. They should be given the extra few days.

Nigel: Tyrone Co Chairman Michael Kerr expressed concern that fulfilling the fixture as it stands could be in contravention the of return to play protocol and may not be compliant with medical advice. The protocol, agreed by the Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales Institute of Sport, and published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, recommends a 17-day gap between the end of an isolation period and a resumption of normal training. "This is about player welfare, and it's clear that our players will not be ready to engage in a high-intensity Championship game so soon after being directly affected by this virus.""]I knew a week had to be pushing it, the gaa should do the right thing here and give Tyrone the time they need to prepare properly or else call the whole thing off till next January/February. Start up the club competitions now and they'll be time at the start of next year to finish the allireland football championship."]Have the club competitions not already started? We're almost in the middle of August? Surely every county in the country have started their league competitions. Most counties should have made a start on their championships as well."]We've our county leagues finished now. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 10/08/2021 14:00:57 2369530 Link 0 |

Same amount of people, roughly within a range of 2/300 either way, died last year as in 4/5 previous years. Rather than address that, or the fact that vast majority of those who have died have been very old with underlying conditions, you throw out tabloid abuse: "Gemma," "Covid denier", and imply that anyone who questions any of the narrative is less intelligent than yourself. Or that you have unique insight because your sister is at the "coalface." We all know nurses and doctors and people who have died. Stick to the facts old chap. I have never said that Tyrone ought not be given more time, and said same about Cork under 20s. It is not their fault that all of this is in place. Merely pointing out, that if these restrictions are going to remain despite almost universal vaccination and therefore the "herd immunity" that ought to bring, then get used to this being the "new normal." Human society has heretofore not met such crises, and this one is well down the list, with social surrender. No wonder more aggressive cultures are on verge of submerging the west. 5000 dies with covid, not from covid...test everyone who dies for the flu and then lock the whole place down cause of the numbers who die with the flu.. Just get on with life, if a team can't field some players due to injuries or illness or whatever, that's they're problem, life goes on. You can't live in fear forever. I'd like for Tyrone CB to let everyone know what they were doing different to every other team in the country that they are so badly affected. wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1754 - 10/08/2021 15:02:06 2369553 Link 0 |

Well clearly the numbers are significant enough otherwise the GAA wouldn't have rescheduled the game at all. So they accepted that there is an issue but have failed to recognize that the issue will not be gone away in six days. Or deep down do they really know that Tyrone may not be able to put a team out and just offered the rescheduling to save face in order to be able to say that it's Tyrone who have pulled out and not us who have been unreasonable. Without bothering the Tyrone CB I'd say its because Covid is highly contagious.

But what happens if Kerry come down with Covid next week? Or Dublin, or Mayo? Do they give the same treatment to the other counties? Will they postpone the semifinal and final for another couple of weeks? Why don't they just postpone the whole thing for the moment and play both semifinals in a month when things have returned to normal.... play the club championship now to keep the players fresh. captainshamrock (Kerry) - Posts: 23 - 10/08/2021 15:48:43 2369576 Link 0 |

Well for starters 5000 isn't a huge figure when you take into account that 93 (I think it's 93 but it might be more} die per day in Ireland pre covid,,multiply that by 365 and you'll get a figure considerably higher than 5000,, that's to start, then take into account the fact that those 5000 deaths were covid RELATED,, most of them simply died after testing positive, and had their deaths falsely attributed to covid. Irelands death rate at the end of 2020 was 1% higher than at the end of 2019,, yet you'd have been forgiven for thinking we'd been struck by the plague the way people go on. Crawl out from under your bed, and enjoy the match :) Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 10/08/2021 15:52:35 2369578 Link 2 |

I would just like to remind people that over 7,000 have died in Ireland due to Covid. tireoghainabu (Tyrone) - Posts: 502 - 10/08/2021 17:10:27 2369607 Link 2 |

so highly contagious that no other intercounty team across male or female, camogie, football or hurling, at any age level have been so badly affected..sure. More likely some of the starters are struggling with injury than all struck down so badly with something they've been vaccinated against. Sure lets stay locked down and postpone everything in the future instead of getting on with life. There's more footballers in tyrone than these few

While I hope Tyrone get to play in semi final I'm wondering if the gaa don't change date and Tyrone can't play does it open the door for Monaghan again? I think (although I might be wrong) it might have happened in the early days of the gaa during foot and mouth. If Tyrone can't play would nt it be better than a walkover where no one is a winner really. Anyway just a though. Anyone else have a view on it? Of course ideally we hope Tyrone can play and the gaa facilitate their plight. CiarraiMick (Dublin) - Posts: 4243 - 10/08/2021 17:58:45 2369619 Link 0 |

I'd like to remind you that they didn't die due to covid. Anyone who gets the vaccine and dies, will have traces of covid in their system, will it be said they died due to covid or due to the vaccine?
