I personally wouldn't like to see that. GAA is an All Ireland body. They should have treated the virus in the same way, an all island approach. Now i see 50 year old getting the call in the North, better suited if they would share vaccines over Ireland.

That would have meant using common sense though, and not taking flegs into consideration.

I agree with the GAA one-island sentiment, and there is a case for adult teams all starting at the one time in the interests of fairness. But I'd get underage football, hurling and camogie going in the North as soon as the green light is given. It would give kids such a lift. No point in us all suffering, if it's allowed I say let the youth at it. The intangible benefits to them would be fantastic.

Is there a better format to differentiate when multiple people quote posts than the last few posts. Looks so poor and confusing!!

I'm conscious that this might read as conspiratorial nonsense, but does anyone else get the feeling that this blood clot drama around the AZ vaccine seem like bull? Just a flag raised to buy them some time to address the issues around supply?

I was always skeptical that our esteemed government would deliver on their promises. Already I hear Donnelly backtracking, saying that in terms of vaccination targets they never promised anything, that they were "estimates". Jesus, Mary and Joseph, they are really starting to test the country at this stage.

Time to put the wind up some of these pharma companies who have enjoyed, shall we say, generous corporate tax rates over the years here. If AZ can't sort their **** out, time for J&J and Pfizer to do us a solid, regardless of what the collective EU process is.

It was Norway who raised this issue first so I think it should be looked at carefully before continuing.

I listened to the irish doctor from Norway on the Claire Byrne show last night and the age profile and symptoms plus the fact that an extra person was in a similar situation means that countries are right to pause and leave the experts make a call on whether there are side effects or not.
Our government need people to have confidence in vaccines. If people refuse to take them then we will be in trouble for a lot longer.
So, this is definitely not a time stalling scenario, it's about ensuring confidence and that is really key to moving forward.
Germany are in the same boat !

Looks like the 6 counties will be allowed back training in pods of 15 from April 12th. We are way behind here.

"The EMA [ European Medicines Agency] said there was "no indication" that the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine was the cause of reported blood clots."

"I want to stress at present there is no indication that vaccination has caused these conditions," Emer Cooke, the EMA's executive director said in a press briefing on Tuesday. "

"They have not come up in the clinical trials and they are not listed as known side events with this vaccine," Ms Cooke said.

"In clinical trials both vaccinated people and people who received the placebo have shown some very small number of blood clot developments.

"The number of thromboembolic events overall in vaccinated people seems not to be higher than that seen in the general population."

Should be the club finals tomorrow, what a disaster this last year has been,
if they are back training in the 6 counties before the rest of Ulster it gives them teams a big advantage over the rest of Ulster, I think Tyrone will win Ulster this year anyway if we get back to playing that is, with the clowns we have in gov it's hard to know what's going to happen.
If stalling the astrazeneca vaccine is a stunt it could backfire big time because a lot of people won't take that vaccine now, might put people off vaccines altogether, I mean if you are young and healthy why would you risk putting something into your body that you don't really need and could have these extreme side effects?

According to the media , there were positive cases in over 100 schools last week.
Look lads, I know it's tough, but these cases are absolutely lethal, and we should bite the bullet and accept its probably wiser to remain in hard lockdown for another 8/9 months.
Continuing the sports ban is a no brainer. Forget about it for the year. We can come back stronger in mid to late 2022.

Theres a big difference between inside classrooms and outdoor pitches.

With the numbers down from January, Im hoping that the clubs can get children
back training from the start of April.

Vaccine the vulnerable and let the young excercise.

No chance, if banning sport, closing our schools, and enforcing lockdown indefinitely temporarily delays even one death it will have been worth it a billion times over.

Well other sports are playing. The League of Ireland is starting on Friday for example. They have sponsors to support. So does the GAA. If no GAA the games will be at risk from financial collapse. Where are the vaccines?

8/9 months lockdown. Are you really expecting people who are fed up with restrictions, to spend the rest of the year confined?. Get on with the vaccination, and quit stalling.

Sorry, the last sentence of my post should have said mid to late 2023.

Those people were very happy to unquestioningly proceed with those restrictions this time last year, the government were given a popular mandate to enforce this lockdown to the point where anyone who disagreed was labelled a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic. No good is turning around now and saying we're fed up.

Hope teams from the North wait until GAA opens for everybody. A completeness was made of this island as a whole. First South was way ahead of most of world then they even lag behind the North. They all need their heads banged together and think about the place as one . Schools back soon so everything's fecked.
