The league is a better competition than the All-Ireland Championship?

Replying To Canuck:  "What gets me cranked about this in the first place is statements that no one is forcing or holding a gun to the county players heads to play in a effort to devalue what they do to reach those standards. Then there are hundreds wishing for that opportunity is another way to devalue. What profession is there not ?
The reality is without the county players there would not be hundreds of jobs in Croke Park. Jobs in pubs, restaurants, tv,sport wear shops, transport, etc. etc. as well as money coming back into the community to develop facility at club level. It is also reality that without club players there would not be county players.
Here is some perception for you odd or not. In 20 years time or less the structure of the GAA at the elite level will have changed drastically. Why ? Because it is not sustainable and top planners in the GAA know that now and planning."
All I know is I played football, these things never entered my head. Sure we're all different.

Not casting any dispersions on you realdub. I sure that is the truth the same as any of us who were not good enough to play county, It was huge thing to be called for a trial. You were king in the parish if you got one.

I love the League too but the Championship is my favorite. Maybe a fusion of the two would make everyone happy.

Of course an all Ireland medal is what it's all about,, but the dubs are just so far ahead of everyone at the minute that the league has been a more interesting tournament these last few years.

When we were growing up every kid wanted to be and was a Christy Ring, Jim Doyle, Eddie Keher and in my instance a Franky Walsh. In football a Mick O' Connell, Jimmy Keaveney and others. That did not change as you got older and did not take away from the enjoyment of just playing. Years later I heard the kids playing and they were D.J. Carey, Jimmy Barry Murphy , Ken McGrath, Paul Flynn and many others. The ones that make it to inter county are elite players but to realize that potential much more effort is required. When the Cork players withdrew their services that did not go so well. No disrespect to the players who stood in and were quickly stepped out when it was over. ( I did not support that strike ). So yes as you said you need to enjoy it for the sport itself but I will always give recognition to a level above the ordinary and if those athletes decided to exercise their right to play or not we would all be at a loss in our entertainment.

Because there is a large % of people who will say if I can do it next week I don't see what's wrong with doing in this week. It's one you can never get right.

That is the way democracy works. You contact the elected officials. Jack Chambers is a Dub, he might be interested in obtaining GAA votes in the next election. Catherine Martin is the senior minister, I am presuming she is not that interested in GAA, I could be wrong.

Minister Martin doesn't seem interested in a lot of sports but I also could be wrong.

The only thing elected ministers are interested in is collecting their over sized pay packages for doing sweet fa.... neither Martin or side kick Chambers have any interest in sport and hardly know it's been disrupted... calling either of them would be some waste of time...!!!
