Fair enough. In this day and age we should be able to figure out a reasonable way to do this. Good luck to Mayo in the football btw.

My homies? No. people shouldnt be allowed in. Yes its a big moment for the players involved but theyre lucky that the game itself can be played. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3746 - 03/12/2020 21:02:27 2318023 Link 0 |

2000 spectators allowed in the Emirates Stadium last night for Arsenal's Europa league game - are we being too cautious here, or could people be trusted to behave responsibly in the heat of a close championship game?? football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 04/12/2020 10:09:12 2318077 Link 1 |
you shot it down with an ignorant answer, now one of your own is calling for it to happen.

You say one of your own? One of my what exactly?

I dont see how we are being too cautious or if too cautious is a bad thing. I dont think people can be trusted to behave responsibly considering what we saw with club games and breaches earlier in the year KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3746 - 04/12/2020 18:22:47 2318283 Link 1 |

Sure you told us a few weeks ago that hurlers and footballers playing matches wasn't safe enough because they're amateurs. You were wrong. Plenty of incidents with soccer fans recently and they've been given the all clear to return in a lot more countries than just England. Are you trying to say GAA fans are less trust worthy?
SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2558 - 04/12/2020 18:41:43 2318288 Link 2 |
Wrong based on what exactly? Not all countries are the same and i think the irish case numbers back up our approach. And the scenes around GAA games havent looked good especially club games. What are all the incidents with soccer fans in Ireland as in terms of covid thats whats relevant not whats happened in england? If you think thats what i was saying about GAA fans then cop on to yourself. KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3746 - 04/12/2020 19:15:20 2318297 Link 0 |
Why, are England fighting a different virus? Several thousand more fans in Liverpool and Leeds celebrated league championship success on a much larger scale than any minor GAA crowd did for their club. Celtic fans have been out in crowds over a manager this week. You even said it yourself the post before, how could we trust GAA supporters nationwide, after a couple of minor incidents out of the full list of games on at that time? Maybe you could explain it then if thats not what you were getting at...

Senior Championships all finished without any major incidents or increased spread of Covid because of games. Well done to all players involved and thanks for the entertainment over the last 2 months. Seeing as professional rugby especially and soccer has struggled to protect themselves even in their 'bubbles' it's a great achievement for GAA teams. updwell (Limerick) - Posts: 898 - 20/12/2020 21:24:37 2324833 Link 3 |
Yea, massive achievement for all involved. A lot of people were against it going ahead and found cheer in a media that was looking for the sensational headlines. How many times can you remember seeing people talk about the games putting peoples lives at risk or were going to be responsible for a massive increase in the spread of the virus.

Amen. Glad it went well. Thumbs up to the GAA and all the players, managers, officials, etc. Looking forward to 2021.

Second that, there were people on these forums waiting on a fall, but the GAA stood tall and are and always will be the NO 1 sport in Ireland.

With the mutations of the virus so prevalent now I'm wondering will there be any GAA matches before Aug/Sept,the 2021 competitions might have to run into 2022. ONdeDITCH (Limerick) - Posts: 873 - 02/02/2021 20:07:31 2330165 Link 1 |
Can virus tell the difference in GAA and other sports as soccer starts soon in South and they're playing it in the North, same as rugby.

Viruses (or is it viri ?) mutate all the time, so they do. It doesn't turn them into brand new diseases. Mutations can be good or bad. lionofludesch (Down) - Posts: 475 - 03/02/2021 11:18:36 2330201 Link 1 |
Hopefully one of the various vaccines will stop it all. The Oxford AstraZeneca one has been getting great reviews. I caught it in early January and I had the worse headache for two days. Every joint and muscle hurt too. I was under the blankets yet still shivering. Nasty bug.

I caught it in November. I was bad for a day, slept through most of it, and felt fine after 24 hours. Strange how it affects folk differently. lionofludesch (Down) - Posts: 475 - 04/02/2021 12:48:34 2330256 Link 1 |
