Well done to all players involved and thanks for the entertainment over the last 2 months. Seeing as professional rugby especially and soccer has struggled to protect themselves even in their 'bubbles' it's a great achievement for GAA teams."
You obviously were oblivious to all the breaches, celebrations and outbreaks last September/October! There wasn't a weekend that a whatsapp of celebrations in some pub or other wasn't circulating. The party in the Moycullen pub, the street celebrations when the cup arrived home etc. Even the GAA president commented on it and stopped club games leaving some county finals not played.

I don't remember it happening in any other sport in the country.

Whatever about clapping ourselves on the back, we are certainly in no position to take the high moral ground.

Did Sligo not drop out of the Championship or did I dream that ?

It depends on what you mean by "major incidents", I suppose.

Think this new mutant version is contagious through this thread...lol, anyone else catch it and live to tell the tale?

Yeah my friend said the same thing. No headaches and in a day or two he was fine.

If you see the date I posted it on I was referring to the Intercounty scene which had just finished. As far as I know there was no incidents or outbreaks relating to Intercounty players or fan celebrations-that is what I was referring to. I hope you will acknowledge that. There was a big hullabaloo created by RTE/ Newstalk and the Irish written media to abandon the GAA championships. I don't think the GAA has got acknowledgement or slap on the back from these outlets or admittance that they got it wrong.
As for what happened during the club championship of course your are right but the fact that the wet pubs opened up during this period should also factor into those over the top celebrations-just look at the numbers going up spectacularly over Christmas with the pubs open. It would be interesting to see the Covid numbers over the next few months with the 6 Nations on if the pubs were open again. If other sports were finishing their season's with the pubs open we would have seen the exact same scenes that we saw in the autumn. It's my opinion that alcohol is the biggest obstacle to the suppression of this virus and the pubs should not be allowed to open until 70% of us have the vaccine. As for the GAA well done again (apart from Sligo unfortunately) for what they did pre-Christmas.

Why should GAA not take the moral high ground? They have postponed draws for matches unlike other sports which are starting soon. Last year they went above and beyond other sports and are doing so again.

Soccer and rugby, went above and beyond all these. For a GAA site there are a lot of soccer lovers on it.

How did the GAA go above and beyond what soccer and rugby did?

GAA were first to call a halt to games and still haven't made plans to start yet unlike soccer and rugby. Does that answer your question? NO1 sport in Ireland doing the right thing.

Rugby is being played currently because they are professional players getting. There isn't any soccer being played in the Republic currently

How were they the first to call a halt to games? Rugby hasnt made a return at amateur level which is and rightfully can be treated differently to the provinces and national set ups which can create bubbles as they are pro set ups

Rugby did the right thing as much as GAA.
ALL competitions in 19/20 season that were not completed by time of first lockdown were not completed.

Was that not amateur level today, man can't find touch from 20 yards and they think they're pros.

Players make poor mistakes all the time.
He went for the jugular when all he needed was to make touch. That isnt amateur

A lot of professionalism shown by Sexton behaving like a child when he had to come off with the head injury rule.

LOI was due to start mid February but pushed back to March, government funding helping to get it through. Sure the Gaa are still talking about hoping to have league games by end of March, Which is unlikely.
