Clarke May still be out. Parsons hasn't played all year. Jason Doherty and Diarmuid O'Connor both out.

Dream on. Dubs will destroy Mayo. Donegal missed 10 or 11 handy points. Dubs will not be so generous.

I think a good point was made in the sunday game last night. Mayo create more scoring chances then most teams they play but convert a lower percentage of chances. This game will come down to whether or not Mayo can increase the number of scores from the chances created. Their intensity against a very good Donegal side limiting them to 1-8 was impressive, if they can repeat this then they have a chance. Don't think they created that many against Kerry and this could be a problem for Tyrone also. Kerry are very good at closing down the attack. Dublin will need all there backs to do the same on Saturday.

I'm becoming very nervous, after all it us an All-Ireland semi-final in the 5 in a row year. And Mayo of all teams make me sweat. We can't beat them forever and they are a very unique bunch. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8821 - 05/08/2019 17:42:44 2221235 Link 2 |

Agree...the problem is for everyone bar Dublin fans is Dublin while great to watch are playing in games where it's over early or you never get the feeling they are going to loose....like yesterday which was a challenge game in all but name. Super 8s are definitely not working, and I agree with the lads on the Sunday panel who say we sold out to sky. It's a disgrace. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 12262 - 05/08/2019 18:09:10 2221242 Link 5 |

Ruane hasn't seen much game time either...7 or 8 who started against Tyrone will play against Mayo....I can only see McCarthy, Cooper and McMahon who came on starting on Sat...I feel Dubs will win by 6...The only thing I fear on Sat is the weather a wet day will definitely suit Mayo..

Absolutely. And it doesn't make any sense cause if you look at their forwards (right now) compared to ours not one of them (apart from Coc) would make our panel never mind our team on paper it shouldn't be even a contest but we all know it will go down to the wire cause of mayo's Defenders keep them in every game , their forwards score from every 1 shot in 4 it's laughable to even think they can beat us but again we all know they can. No one gets under our skin more than this mayo team and supporter's , everything I said there is out of respect for this Mayo side. roll on Saturday evening can't wait it's going to be epic. By the way people saying a 7 day turnaround is too much for Mayo are taking rubbish Mayo will be flying next weekend with massive momentum they Won't do any heaving training this week and 7 days is more than enough time to get the legs right again. Doherty a big loss obviously. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 05/08/2019 18:23:49 2221249 Link 1 |

What people need to remember is Mayo breed quality, tough defenders, we don't breed forwards, our best forwards has always been our half back line riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 05/08/2019 18:40:11 2221255 Link 2 |

We missed a few ourselves on Saturday. That'll surely be remedied somewhat by Saturday. Two halves as accurate but with a higher return than the second half against Armagh and we'll have a chance. Our defence have improved a bit too. The matchups will be crucial in determining the result.

Correct. Match ups will be key. Who will stop Keegan and Boyle's marauding runs? Will it be Kilkenny v Keegan, Howard v Boyle? Will Dermo start for Dublin in that HF line instead of Scully? If he does who will pick him up? I think stopping that Mayo half back line from advancing is key for Dublin. We have the backs to contain their forwards but will AOS play on the square and will Philly or Cooper pick him up. Big games required of Kilkenny, Con and Mannion in particular for Dublin. Unquestionably the best two teams of the last decade, it's going to be a bare knuckle ride.

The best hope of Mayo beating Dublin is if somehow it is a low scoring game. Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3862 - 05/08/2019 18:55:10 2221266 Link 0 |

Probably a poor analogy. I think Mayo would be the ones to object if they had a Galway referee.

You would expect Kerry to beat Mayo well playing at home. It's a huge advantage. I would put Donegal as a better team than Mayo on paper but in the white heat of Castlebar they wilted. It's why I give Mayo a chance playing in a neutral venue against Dublin in an All Ireland Semi Final. Hopefully it should be a great game.

Small will start he's a guaranteed starter for Dublin now, I think the other position up for grabs is either James McCarthy plays centre back instead of Cian or midfield instead of McCauley which would be harsh cause McCauley has been very good so far this season but McCarthy starts no matter what.

So the man in the middle next Saturday evening is Corks Conor Lane. I guess he's as good or as bad as any other. cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 641 - 05/08/2019 19:47:04 2221295 Link 0 |

Hoping Dublin start off as bad as they did against Meath. Give us a chance to get a bit of a head start, settle in a wee bit. cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 641 - 05/08/2019 19:49:52 2221296 Link 0 |
