You don't think winning the last 4 all Ireland's has kind of taken Dublin out of the long grass ?

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if mayo beat dublin and then lose to kerry in the final!

I said after our game v Kerry that both teams left chances on the pitch and that that wouldn't be good enough against Dublin. The same is true of Mayo now. Unless they put in a near flawless performance going forward, getting scores from majority of chances created, they won't get near Dublin. Hopefully should be a great game, dubs been in cruise control all year and with DC back in action I can't see them being stopped. Bon (Kildare) - Posts: 2687 - 04/08/2019 23:25:26 2220939 Link 0 |

Are you serious? You did! Fourth post down: "Dublin by 15+ realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 7542 - 04/08/2019 18:57:15" Unless you don't think a 15 point margin counts as a hammering?? festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3163 - 04/08/2019 23:41:09 2220944 Link 0 |

Dublin will win this by 8+ if not more. Mayo put in a trojan effort to get over Donegal and with a few lads patched up I think Saturday is coming too soon for them to mount anything more than a decent 50 min effort. Dublin having rested most of their first 15 yesterday will be fresh and I think will put Mayo to the sword. As much as people will talk about Mayo's past form against us I think the turnaround time plus injuries plus miles on the clock of previous key men means talk of Dublin being beaten is based on nothing more than hope and/or nostalgia. Dublin should win this fairly comfortably in the end. Ronan1989 (Donegal) - Posts: 83 - 05/08/2019 03:12:40 2220964 Link 1 |

Didn't Donegal draw with Kerry and Mayo beat Donegal. At this stage it doesn't make any difference.

This is set up for Mayo...Dubs have yet to play a game this year with proper champo intensity and Mayo are getting injured players back and coming with momentum. If and it's a big if mayo take their chances they'll be right in it. blacknamber (Kerry) - Posts: 267 - 05/08/2019 09:23:44 2220984 Link 0 |

I would have Clarke starting for us all day and every night, even allowing for some concerns about his restarts. Donegal won 35 per cent of Mayo's kickouts on Saturday evening, and again he almost coughed up a goal straight from a short kickout, but RH gets a pass on this from some Mayo fans, whereas Clarke would get slaughtered for a similar return. I have never seen Clarke picked off for a goal straight from his kickout (some points admittedly) in his two decades in a Mayo jersey, which unfortunately is not something I can say about the Breaffy custodian. Clarke is also less prone to brain farts and is much more secure under high ball and is possibly the best shot stopper in gaelic football at the mo. I don't think I've ever seen another gaelic goalie save five out of his last six pennos or whatever it is with him recently. But I do think that Horan will stick with Robbie, he has one or two blind spots (the need for a sweeper being one of them) and the goalkeeper's position is another IMO. Agreed that Mayo's conversion rate will not be good enough to beat the Dubs unless there's a dramatic improvement. It will be interesting to see who Horan starts at full-forward the next day- Andy had another stormer on Saturday but sometimes struggles to last the full 70 (or almost 80) minutes these days. Darren Coen gives us a physical presence on the edge of the square that we have lacked at times, even if he's not the fastest thing on two legs. He's also a very accurate shooter. Start Andy or bring him on later if the game is in the melting pot? Decisions, decisions. DOC and Ruane are also huge losses for us around the middle, as I would worry that we are not athletic enough there against a very mobile Dublin centre-field partnership. If Mayo can repeat their first half performance against Donegal over the 70+ minutes and take most of their scoring chances, then they will be in with a shout, otherwise it will be a comfortable victory for Dublin. Green_Gold (Donegal) - Posts: 1951 - 05/08/2019 10:38:25 2221010 Link 0 |

It would surprise me greatly to be honest. Don't think Mayo are the force they were while I think the Dubs have improved.

I would agree with you Dublin will win this by 12-15 points at home , Mayo had their good game against Donegal and now it's time for them to lye down . I hope I'm wrong but it's time for Aidan o'shea to do his disappearing again.

If anyone is Kerry and Mayo then you're right. But they have comfortably beat the Connaught champions, the Munster runners up and last years AI runners up. So that must count for something. Mayo will be a different proposition in their second home though.
