Then why does it always get good attendance Figures?

Ever hear the expression about a good crowd and a hanging?

You also said that this is not a 2nd rate aussie side well, sorry, it is. It features very few genuine AFL stars, certainly in comparison to the superstar teams that came over when the series was revived in the late '90s. To be fair, Ireland stopped fielding its best side a long time ago as well.

Now, the aussies could very well win - the touring side always has the advantage of spending more time together. Also, unknowns though most of them may be, the aussies are still professional athletes and, though we like to say that our lads are as well conditioned as professionals, the truth is that they are nowhere near elite professional level.

The aussies will be fast and mobile and should be very competitive. Maybe they'll win. Maybe Ireland will win. Either way, few people other than the lads on the field will actually care.

Its admirable how you are keeping to the Tyrone party line, for a minute there you looked like you might have a view of your own

Oh don't worry, I have plenty of views of my own, and many of those would be the diametrically opposed to Mickey Harte's. In this case, my view happens to be the same as his, and the same as the majority of non-Tyrone posters on here.

This game serves no purpose. It is not, as some would claim, a chance for people to see the top stars of the GAA/AFL represent their country, as neither side pick their top stars. Nor is it, as others will say, a chance for players from smaller counties to be some recognition, as only the top sides in Ireland are represented.

So perhaps we should look at it as a game in its own right, a challenge between the 2 countries? That argument doesn't wash with me either, as no game can hope to be meaningful when it is only played twice every two years, and the first of those games invariably sees the players struggling to come to terms with the rules. As stand alone sport is pointless and unnecessary.

Thomas Clarke, you do know Lance Franklin is one of the biggest Stars in AFL. Earns 10 million a year. Daniel Wells played in previous tests, I'm sure in the late 90's you hadn't a clue of the big stars in the AFL ,and it was only after those tours that they became household names to you. Maybe that will happen after this tour.

Less of the negative bull, please.

Good man. Care to give us the run down on the other 31 members of the squad? Or even tell me how many of them were selected in the 22 man All Australian Team (All Stars) last month?

The run down? NO, look up an AFL site. As for how many made the All Star team - it doesn't mean much. Bit like the All Stars here, could be another 15 All Stars over the expert votes.

Ah, is that how it works? So these 33 are really the top stars of the AFL? Fair enough....

Look, no-one is telling you that you can't enjoy it. I've watched every series since 1984, and will probably watch at least part of this one out of curiosity, but I'm not going to pretend that it is anything more than an overhyped waste of time.

They are not all going to be crème de la crop big names, or All Stars, but does it mean much? No, It's and Indigenous team, representing Australia for the first time, as an Indigenous team. Will every Dublin footballer get an All Star this year? No, they are competing against other top Gaelic footballers.. does it mean they are bad footballers?, nope, but they are part of a team. The indigenous team will be united together and be proud to be playing for Australia,

Aaron Davey is another survivor from previous test tours. Retired from AFL at the end of the season.

Would it be fair to say that the indigenous Australians
also had their land taken over by settlers? In that sense
they are a parallel to Ireland-especially the North? Or
is that too simplistic?

Thomas Clarke, I could tell you a bit about them as I watch the AFL quite often over here. Franklyn, cant see anyone marking him, hes better than Goodes who destroyed us a few years ago. Daniel Wells, the mans fitness levels are unreal, he would be the ideal wing half back in gaelic football. Michael Johnson is Fremantles most consistent player next to Pavlich. The Hill brothers both played in this years AFL grand final. As matter of fact 13 players on this team played in the Final and Pre lim finals this year which is equiv to AI Semi and final. Watch out for the pace of Jetta and also the leap from Michael Walters and all the size of him. Very athletic team. We will be doing very well if we beat them over the 2 tests.

I support the series,it is good for players to get to represent
their country. I think aggregate scores should be scrapped
and if a team wins 2-0 they win the series, if its 1-1 after
2 matches a deciding game should be played?

Let's hope Ireland selector Nicholas Walsh treats him with more respect than he did in the 2005 USFC.
