this thread is so dramatic!

its just a game you crazy cats. So many comments a laced with the kind of language usually reserved for world events. Relax. Take a deep breath. Its sport. If you want a proper moan there is always the budget

Surprised Kevin Reilly is not on the panel. This type of game is perfectly suited to him.

What type of attendance is expected for the 2nd Test in Croker.??

Did the Kerry players make themselves available for the series .?

It's obvious the aussies have little or no interest left in this game they can try and wrap it up anyway they want but sending over an all indigenous side is just a nice way of telling the gaa they no longer want to take part in this series.
I just saw today that none of the Australian TV channels are even showing the first game, channel 7 over here who normally show both the test's have decided to go with wait for it.....A home shopping segment instead with the game being showing on a 90 minute delay after it's bad enough that they have basically given us the 2 fingers but i'm sure this will go down great among the Indigenous Australians.

Surprised Brendan Murphy from Carlow has not made the final cut. Did he not have a stint playing Aussie Rules?

I hear the Aussies are planning some sort of haka style war dance. Looking at their team it's a vast improvement on their team from 2 years ago, but that's usually the case for the "away" trip.

Why anybody bothers with this load of merde is beyond me. The Aussies are sending a load of second and third raters over this time. This will continue because it is a lovely junket for the Croke Park suits every few years. Forget it and consign the series to the dust bin.

Irelands main weakness in this has always been their ability to take a tackle. No matter how many times the rules are explained to them you get the feeling they feel outraged when rugby tackled properly. They need to work on rolling with a tackle and releasing the ball in that split second.

I reckon these guys will have a serious go at us. All natives and if history is anything to go by the away team usually go for it more

Really looking forward to it.

COYBIG!

The people who are moaning about the Aussies sending over second raters, Don't know much about the AFL. Lance Franklin is a huge name in AFL, Lewis Jetta is a brilliant talent, Daniel Wells is a big name, Steven Motlop is another big star of Afl.

Adam Goodes couldn't make it, which was disappointing but still a very impressive Squad. Indigenous players are generally very skilfull and quick. It should be a good series.

Some interesting points of view from the Aussie forums. For the most part they seem to on the fence about the whole thing like ourselves here. By the look of it all the same this indigenous side ain't bad.

Aidan Walsh and Ciaran Sheehan will not be available for the second test. Their clubs want the game to go ahead on the 27th of October despite the Cork County Board wanting to move the game. Fair play to the clubs for their stance. Club GAA comes first every time and this utter utter rubbish should not be anybody's priority. This debacle again shows that the GAA in Cork and everywhere only care about money and are way out of touch with reality. The players may like playing in this but most people at this stage are tired of this crap and it should be let die.

Then why does it always get good attendance Figures? Poor form by the Cork Co board.

Does it? How many turned up in Australia a few years ago apart from a few Irish backpackers and curious onlookers? Both tests used to be in Croke Park and then they moved one of them as the demand was falling dramatically. It might have been somewhat exciting when the Aussies used to beat us up but now the bottom has completely fallen out of it - going by the results (I don't watch it anymore).

You are right it was poor form by the Cork County board for wanting to cancel a county intermediate hurling final so that two players could engage in this nonsensical friendly that is not Gaelic football and not Australian rules either. Thankfully, the clubs stood up to them and the game (hurling) goes ahead (one that is already late anyway).

It got poor attendance figures in 2011 in Australia it was played one was played on the Gold Coast which is near nowhere, isolated. And it wasn't promoted well in Australia. There obviously wasn't going to be thousands of Irish flying over. 23 hour flight after all.

List of the attendance figures http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ireland_international_rules_football_team

The reason for playing it outside of Ireland was to promote the game to other parts of Ireland in provincial areas. Nothing to do with attendance figures as they were good in Croker Park. The stats say so.
