If the GAA's best players are not interested in playing on this team then whats the point of the whole thing.

Bizarre selection! If Johnny Doyle isn't too old, then where is International Rules stalwart Benny Coulter!

there would have been 3 kerry players but they are unavailable club commitments and taking a break

who were the three kerry boys.
i would say, colm cooper, anthony maher and marc O Se.

its awful, an irish team without a kerryman is like a barn brac without a ring.

Agree with everything you're saying here. Surprised the likes of McCaffrey is on the panel aswell. We all remember 2006 and although the physical element has decreased somewhat I'd still worry for the welfare of some of the slighter players if they took one or two heavy tackles.

Surprised no Kevin Reilly in one sense and in another not. As it was on one of these he did his back injury that has caused so much problems.
Anyway looking forward to this. Always enjoyable.

We may not have all players available but Australia have intentionally limited their selection options for the series so there should be no excuses.

Couldn't agree more. McCaffrey is very young, very inexperienced and very slight. He is one of the GAAs great young prospects so I don't understand why Gavin and those close to him don't advise him to give this crazy brawl stuff a complete miss. Young players should not be encouraged to put their health and maybe even career at stake playing this rugby league nonsense.

Bizarre selection from Earley. Johnny Doyle is surely past the stage where he has to put his body on the line 'playing for his country'.

darren o sullivan was going to be picked but club commitments ruled him out

the worst thing to happen for the international rules this year was jim mcguinness getting the clubs in donegal agrre not to play any county championships till donelga championship, if ever county follows that, there will be not much players available for the international rules in future

Looking forward to the series. Our national sport should have some sort of national team and there is no greater honour then representing your country. I'd say the Irish players would love to play against full time professional athletes to compare their ability and show their worth. It also gives inter-county players the chance to play with lads from other counties and every few years the chance of a trip to Australia.

The level of entertainment provided will depend on the attitude of the GAA and AFL. If both teams have a genuine willingness to win the games and are not afraid to use their physicality as well as skill, then it will be an entertaining series.

lads it's a sad day when no Kerry player is interested in the sport... just proves what players actually make of the whole thing, the GAA would be better suited to investing the money in the Railway Cups

Kerryluck, your spell-check seems to be working for the opposition;)

I think the idea of having some Cavan players would have been good to get the home crowd interested.

as a cavan man, i wouldnt b happy to see any "token" cavan players selected. but for david givney not to be considered, given that he is one of the best fielders of a ball in the game, is very strange!

Im surprised Pearce Hanley isn't involved. Maybe he's injured though? The man is a beast and a superb footballer aswell. If Mayo had him involved....

John Heslin, Aidan Walsh, Aidan O Se and Cavanagh are all on the panel as midfield players... It's not that strange at at all. McCauley would have been there only for Club commitments.

Niall Morgan is picked coz (like Cluxton) he's also an outfield player with a great kickout.

Players like Munnelly and McCaffrey were selected for Speed.

I'd imagine Benny Coulter isn't selected because he was monumentally off the pace in the Championship this year.
