I don't see anyone losing the run of themselves so not sure where you got that out of, all comments I've seen have been measured and acknowledge that it's only early in the year.

I'm sure kilkenny will experiment themselves a bit on Sunday so it all comes down to the teams that are named. Bookies have KK as strong favourites and tbh if kilkenny are to break this "hoodoo" we seem to have over them at the moment I would be inclined to hope that it's this Sunday and not later in the year when it actually matters.

I think people's views have been pretty balanced to be fair.

I won't even bother mentioning the number of times we've won the Walsh cup and done nothing in league or championship.

Callan has no bearing on Sunday.

Kilkenny are Kilkenny and will never give anything easy.

If we can maintain the attitude and workrate we've shown so far I'll be delighted.

Getting a result would be a big lift but I think we need to focus on our home games.

We should beat Offaly hopefully, we owe Clare one. They're missing a few and we could have some back. Our record is very good in league against cork.

Don't really know what to expect from Waterford, but would guess Davy's under pressure for championship this year

With the Walsh Park rebuild only 1/3rd completed I'd say the Waterford Board will want to be in 1a next year though.

Replying To Viking66:  "It's a big ask for sure. Especially in Kilkenny. But we haven't lost a championship game in Nowlan Park since 2018 on the other hand, although we lost there in the League in 2021, our only loss to Kilkenny in 70 minutes since 2018 in 13 games in all Senior competitions."
Great record alright but don't think Kilkenny get hung up on their record against us they just improve as the year goes on building slowly but not good enough to win the all ireland. We need to get into the same mind frame and win at a minimum a leinster final.

Haven't seen many people lose the run of themselves, most people acknowledge its early in the year but are happy to see young players going well the last couple of weeks. I'm sure like most teams we'll have ups and downs during the league.

Listened to the OTB hurling Pod and Skehill reckoned winning Leinster has to be our goal.

The level of knowledge they had about our team was refreshing compared to the narrative we had last week

100% Doyler - thought the same myself. O'Callaghan even listed the amount of lads that played champ last year against Kilkenny that didn't play against Galway. Compared to the scutter that was on KCLR no comparison....

Anyone hear if Liam Og is expected to be available or not for the later in the year or still up in the air?

While I was making dinner for the kids last night I listened to the podcast with John Mullane and some fella from Offaly. Was really good. They knew which lads were hurling Fitzgibbon, clubs they hurled for etc etc.

I haven't heard he will be but Verney namechecks him in this article-

Was talking to a panel member about it yesterday. They know nothing about it. He hasn't ruled himself in or out

I think they'd be a bit mindful of it, I think its natural of any team would be mindful if they have a losing streak against a particular opposition, I've no dislike or ill-feeling towards Dublin but I'm mad to beat them in championship this year given we've basically gift rapped them 2 wins the last 2 years.

If we beat them Sunday, and it's a huge IF tbh, we will have beaten them 5 times in a row at Senior. Pretty sure that's never happened before. Of course they aren't going to like it.

I know but if the roles were reversed and they were beating us would it really bother us if we were winning leinsters I know I for one would take that.

It would still bother me. I wouldn't like us losing to them even if we were winning Leinsters. I don't think we have ever won a Leinster without beating them, at least not in my lifetime.

Tbh I'd say they're starting the year trying to reverse their loosing record to Limerick rather Wexford as beating them usually means its going to be an all Ireland final or semi final. They're still winning Leinsters and last few times playing its been us with more to play for in the last round Robin game. I think we make way too much of beating Kilkenny and not enough about loosing to nearly everyone else....I'd take beating all the other teams in Leinster and get to a Leinster final, all Ireland quarter/semi final than obsessing over winning one Kilkenny game in the group too much....They're not obsessing over Wexford games. Theyre worried about themselves and winning every game, maybe they might look at Galway, Limerick, Clare, whoever, for Leinster finals and all ireland finals/semis. Think we look at Kilkenny way too much for everything instead of doing our own thing and trying to do better than getting a win there and let the rest of the year just fall away. Especially when we're not that far off in overall quality, it's not the 2000s/10s Kilkenny teams, not some huge shock or makes a good year anymore. Fair enough the celebrations in 2017 after finally winning but thts 7 years ago. Facts are they've won 4 Leinster and been in 2 all Ireland's over last while and we haven't lost to them but sometimes that doesn't even mean we get out of Leinster. It's a weak mentality. Long may the hoodoo over Kilkenny continue but it would be nice to try get to a Leinster final or try beat Galway or Munster team in the year, that's when I'll know we're progressing more. Undefeated v Kilkenny last few years but also no wins v Westmeath last few years too. Clare obsess over Limerick games in a similar way but they still beat Cork, Waterford, Tipp too....just games Croke Park seem to be their kryptonite.

Lyng gone with 9 starters from last years Championship and Rossiter has 6 from Wexford.

There can really be no excuse for Kilkenny to lose at home on Sunday.
