Replying To Doylerwex:  "Team named.

Nice to see duggan, Ryan and Molloy getting a start.

Darragh Carley is on the bench"
Ryan started the last day in Callan also. James Byrne is making his first start if the team starts as named. As is Molloy. Best of luck to all the lads I'm looking forward to the game. Best get up early if you want a seat Doylerwex there aren't that many in Carlow!

What 5 or 6 do you think will start for us from that 15 ?

Did Ryan not come on for Foley?

Replying To Viking66:  "Definite starter Damien Reck. Likely starters Jacko and Kevin if they keep the good form they are in. Possible starters Charlie, Conor Foley, Richie at the minute, and anyone else who has a really good League, but they will have to do very well in the League to dislodge lads from this team-
Fanning
S Reck, Ryan, Donohue
Devitt, D Reck, O'Hanlon
Dee, Kevin Foley
Oisin Foley, Chin, Jacko/Dwyer
ROC, Mac, Dunbar
And that's assuming Mogie doesn't come back in as he would be an automatic starter for me.
Only Reck was an automatic championship starter off that team named for tomorrow last year and he was injured for pretty much all of it.

Galways team is pretty experimental also with plenty of lads needing to prove themselves. But it's relatively stronger than our team. They have 5 lads who started last years AISF against Limeeick plus Tom Monaghan who came on in the 2nd half of the AISF. If you add up championship appearances over the last 2 years between tomorrow's 2 teams Galways would be a long way ahead of ours.

I really don't see how anyone can say 5 or 6 from tomorrow's Wexford team WILL be championship starters. They will have to show alot of improvement over the League, consistently, and/or hope other established lads are injured or out of form."
I'd agree with that bar I can't imagine fanning being number 1 and would question how he ever was

No he started instead of Paudie Casey who was playing Fitzgibbon during the week before. Molloy came on for Foley. A friend made a good point at the time that it would've been nice for him to be named to start as it was is first start for the county so if he or his family and friends kept a programme sheet as a souvenir he would have been named number 4 on it instead of 20 something.

I don't think Lawlors puckouts are quick enough for the style of play we seem to have now. Hopefully Duggan does well Sunday he seems a nice fella and is a good keeper. But as it is, as regards my post on the relative strengths of our and Galways teams for 2moro, he's definitely not a championship starter right now.

Foley, Dee and Mac are all long term injuries I have heard so that's 3 of the team gone. Mogie very unlikely to be available. Rory also picked up an injury and is out for an early league. Last year we had injuries with backs this year it's forwards!!

Of tomorrows team
Two Foleys, Damien, Charlie and Jack will start in championship

I'm not saying the lads won't start. I'm hoping more of tomorrow's team will also start championship games too! I'm just saying right now that Damien is the only 1 certain to start, and Kevin and Jacko are likely to start. Conor started the games he started last year on account of injuries, as did Charlie who only has ever started one championship game I think? Of course some lads might get injured again and the 2 lads could start, but it's too soon to say they definitely will.
We have only 2 starters from our last championship game, against Kilkenny, named to start 2moro, along with 2 others who came on.
Galway on the other hand have 5 of their AISF team named to start, along with Monaghan who came on and has started numerous championship games.

I agree doylerwex. Remarkable bias towards fanning very evident with viking, its a pity as he's an excellent poster. Lawlor, duggan and Byrne I would agree ate better than him making less mistakes

Happy with the team and best of luck to the lads, I believe Galway are going well and seem to be a bogie team for us but tomorrow is all about been competitive and giving lads a chance. Course it be nice to win but it not the be all and end all tomorrow.

I agree about the mistakes! I was a big supporter of Lawlor getting the job last year.

Agree with most of what the lad had to say. Except 2 things. He was complaining about only having 1 home game in the Walsh Cup this year. We only had 1 last year, and I had to travel from South Wexford to Mountrath and Birr both of which are far closer to East and South Galway than they are to here.
Also he said our best players like Dee and Lee are getting on in age, but they are younger than Galways best players.

I'd suspect 6 changes to our defensive 7 come championship to be honest.

Agreed Foley will start if he continues this form.

If Jack manages any sort of consistency he will too but he's by no means nailed on

Thanks for sharing that, although I'd be disappointed with the lack of knowledge on Wexford.

A two horse race, yet we've won Leinster more recently than Galway.

He has no idea what our team was against Kilkenny last week.

Finally 2019 obviously was not Davy's first year in Wexford.

One other thing actually..he also said Leinster need Galway more than Galway need Leinster. He lost me there.

There's zero chance Joe canning would have got his all Ireland without the Leinster championship

For sure. We are hurling afterthoughts to most of those lads. I do agree with him that Galway are favourites tomorrow. They have gone stronger in team selection than we have. As regards the 2 horse race thing the 2 of them have contested 3 of the last 4 Leinster finals so I didn't get too offended by that, although I do honestly believe that 1 of Kilkenny or Galway might finish 4th in Leinster, admittedly its not likely and I'm not rushing to the bookies to put money on it:-D

If Offaly get themselves back up to the top level, and ourselves and Dublin can get our act together, maybe call their bluff and tell them to get on their horse and head back out into the West if that's going to be their attitude.
