Plus, it should also be noted that there is a very clear trend of younger players coming into adult inter county dropping way back. Before, take 1996 for example, we had 2 players starting on our senior AI team that were on our U21 team that year. Now we pretty much have no one starting that is under 21, and havent since Conor Mac and Rory O Connor. Look at other intercounty teams and look at the young player of the year award. Its rare to find many starters in county set ups now U21, the trend is that players are that bit older before they break in, so whats the urgency in rushing 18s into adult games, when they have hurling and football championships in club and schools and then likely one code at county minor."
Think that's combination of the S&C requirements and changing from u21 to u20 at intercounty, might be wrong but the last ready made 19 year old in either code I can think of is David Clifford."]Adam Hogan in Clare last year."]Sorry knit picking here but think he was 20 rather than 19 when he broke into the Clare team, Ciaran Joyce, Eoin Cody and Adrian Mullen all broke through as 20 year olds too.

Was talking to someone else there now who said there are only the 4 keepers in at the minute and 1 has to be dropped at some stage.

Maybe left it behind them as they lost by 2 in the end after turning down points to go for goals when 1 point down. O Brien from Cushinstown looks a good prospect think he's eligible for minor this year, or maybe not til next year. Think the commentator said he was only in 3rd class."
As far as I know o Brien is 16. He is very well taught about within the club.

Seen 4 Wexford players starting for DCU freshers tonight. Robbie Delaney (Shels), Darragh Farrell (Bunclody), Luke Murphy ( Harriers) and Darragh Murphy from Glynn. Darby Purcell from the Harriers was in the subs while Dylan Purcell from Duffry and Cian Doyle from Shels were the 2 last listed subs on a panel of 30 so probably injured, Purcell was starting for them in league games before Xmas. I'd imagine all 7 are in the u20 panel.

I guess no one would like to finish up their career the way it was looking he was going to. Lawlor didn't fill me with much confidence either last year. Thought Rossiter would be looking elsewhere, the KK man might still get a chance?

Is Darragh Farrell still u20? Be good if he is! Thought he did well against Galway in Carlow last year.

Yeah I think so, he was before xmas anyway as he missed Glynn's u21 semi final, hasn't figured in the Fitzgibbon either for DCU.

He's back running. He was running with the panel on the sideline up in Ferns at the SETU Waterford game.

How serious is the injury and is he still under 20? He impressed me a lot with his distribution and the ground he covered for the 20s last year. I think he may have something to offer the seniors in years to come

He's not u20 this year. Was very good for them last year. He was jogging up and down the pitch behind me up in Ferns but Im not sure what his injury is or when he's coming back from it.

I agree think he's 1 of a good few of last 2 u20 teams with a bit of potential.

He had surgery on his forearm.

He is part of the panel and is expected to be available for championship.

Not 100% but I think he's overage now for the 20s

Team named.

Nice to see duggan, Ryan and Molloy getting a start.

Darragh Carley is on the bench

Team named! First starts for Molloy and James Byrne. Donohue and Carley fit to be named on the bench for the 1st time. Galway have named a similarly experimental side. Hope its a good game!

Galway have named a team with a lot of big men. Probably have 8 players who could start come championship and we have 5/6 who will be championship starters

Definite starter Damien Reck. Likely starters Jacko and Kevin if they keep the good form they are in. Possible starters Charlie, Conor Foley, Richie at the minute, and anyone else who has a really good League, but they will have to do very well in the League to dislodge lads from this team-
Fanning
S Reck, Ryan, Donohue
Devitt, D Reck, O'Hanlon
Dee, Kevin Foley
Oisin Foley, Chin, Jacko/Dwyer
ROC, Mac, Dunbar
And that's assuming Mogie doesn't come back in as he would be an automatic starter for me.
Only Reck was an automatic championship starter off that team named for tomorrow last year and he was injured for pretty much all of it.

Galways team is pretty experimental also with plenty of lads needing to prove themselves. But it's relatively stronger than our team. They have 5 lads who started last years AISF against Limeeick plus Tom Monaghan who came on in the 2nd half of the AISF. If you add up championship appearances over the last 2 years between tomorrow's 2 teams Galways would be a long way ahead of ours.

I really don't see how anyone can say 5 or 6 from tomorrow's Wexford team WILL be championship starters. They will have to show alot of improvement over the League, consistently, and/or hope other established lads are injured or out of form.
