All Ireland Final 2023 - Dublin V Kerry

We were very unlucky against them last year picking up injuries last year and of course we had no Jack, Stevo or Mannion and still could of got a result, the game hinged on a questionable decision really.

Full deck, i think we will certainly be competitive.

50/50 game really. Two talented teams.

Key things for us - who takes Clifford, Fitzey has held him well before, maybe drop Jamsie or Howard back. If we can hold him to four and cut out the advanced mark - which is a lot of his score we will have done well.

Discipline will be key, no silly frees again Clifford and O Shea eat these up. Hold those two and you can be confident enough of posting a performance and a hand in on the result.

Kerry will go with their blanket and usual swarm defence, we need pace and penetration - you can at them. Hoping for a strong ref, Kerry tend to be cynical once you cross the half way line and beat the man they will drag you down high up the pitch, want a ref that punishes that with cards.

With the above in mind one consideration is a free taker, we've left Deano on the bench all year, but i think a free taker may be critical in this game - maybe im being unfair on Cosie, who has been in great form.

In between lets enjoy the build up, its been a couple of years since we've been in the final so nice to enjoy the build up and excitement again.

Would agree Kerry are a disgrace at cynically fouling 'transitioners' trying to mount speedy counterattacks off turnovers deep in their own territory. Should be straight black book offences those imo. All teams do it, but Kerry are the worst culprits in the country at it.

If we consider post 1990 as the modern era; both Ulster and Munster have the same quantity of All Irelands won with 10 a piece.

Didn't Billy Morgan of Cork say that? That Kerry were the best exponents of the dark arts but are cute enough to fool officials and the media most of the time. Kerry are as cynical and dirty as any county that has come out of Ulster or Dublin in my lifetime. Don't get me wrong, they are fine footballers and great to watch but spare us the bull about them being angelic and floating on clouds.

Galway did the same under Tally, foul the defender,stand in front of the free taker, may get brought forward but that's a good 10 seconds where guys can get back and reset defensively.
My only issue with it if it was the team playing Kerry doing it you would have O'Se, Fitzmaurice, Jack O'connor and anyone else highlighting it leading up to the final and then the referee is under pressure.

You're absolutely right

There would be big double page articles written all about it, across a number of the papers, then you'd have the other one on the radio reinforcing the article and then another on the TV, a couple more at it online.

They've been doing it for years, there was a well organised campaign against Gough before the drawn 2019 final, from a number of former prominent Kerry players misusing their media status to basically character assassinate a match official before a ball was kicked.. huge online pressure too.

Ridiculous conspiracy theories.. as if us Dubs were over the moon about a flippin Meath Ref!!

Then what happens.. Gough was absolutely coerced and harangued from all angles..

For me, and I don't care who does it.

It's always a good day to see Kerry beat.

The exciting final that they all wanted. Watching Dublin win their 7th All Ireland in 10 seasons or watch Kerry win their 2nd in a row and 3rd in 10 seasons. I would prefer Dublin to win.

The two top teams are there on merit. Couple of ref decisions didn't make a big difference. Thing I don't like is the draw for the semifinals when down to last 4. Back to the rotation of provinces would kill all conspiracies .Looking forward to a classic. Clifford for Sam.

Let's NEVER forget that Dublin had a referee removed - actually REMOVED - ahead of the Dublin/Laois game in 2007.

Didn't Kerry start a campaign re Gough ahead of an all ireland final. I remember thinking who'd be a ref. Thought it was terrible carry on from the Kerry camp.
