All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2023

Galway vs Tipp should be an unreal game. The Tipp forwards are absolutely electric but I have serious questions about their defence which are conceding an awful lot of goals. Galway are better balanced than Tipp but have been so inconsistent this year. I don't think either team will win the All Ireland though as they face a vicious route to even reach the final.
Clare vs Dublin - The match being on in Limerick is huge for Clare and they should have too much to spare over Dublin. Dublin are improving but I think this might be a bridge too far for them. I fancy Clare to win the AI this year and they would relish a shot at KK again in a semi final.
Limerick - Hannon is a massive loss. Himself and Finn are their two defensive fulcrums and are so vital to Limerick defensively. How Limerick set up in his absence is very fascinating. Dan Morrissey or Colin Coughlan to 6?? They also need more from their attackers outside of Gillane, who's been my hurler of the year. Hegarty is improving game by game as I think Cathal O Neill is but it's vital that they get Lynch back healthy.

Replying To Oldtourman:  "I think they were no more dominant that Limerick were over the last three years. contested twelve finals and won all twelve of them. Not bad for a county with about one fifth the hurlers that cork have and probably a third that of both Galway and Tipp."
Oldtourman if this present Limerick team were up against that great Tipperary team of the 60's they wouldnt come out in the second half as it would have been similar to the Offaly game the weekend gone by

the last time we met ye in Croke Park we beat ye 27 points do you remember that day?"
I think that day was of more value to Limerick than Tipp though P28?

Big wins there for Tipp on those occasions
It was a pity Limerick didnt make the final or it could have been a similar beating to the last one we gave ye in Croke Park

Was hoping they'd be a bit earlier in the afternoon but looking forward to both. Cork are playing Roscommon in football the same day so that thankfully put a stop to their asking for one of the hurling.

Stop in to have a pint and a sandwich in the ancestors local on the way and maybe on the way back although they be fierce bad company if we lose badly and they win :-)

Hi Kildare
its not arrogance its just that Tipp people know that our championship only started this weekend

Too True Slayer

If we had been only been beaten by a point or two that day the wheels may never have been put in motion regarding the structures resulting in the team we we have now. The Tipp arrogance was just the fuel we needed to ignite the spark

Thread is about the 2023 hurling championship. I'm all for hearing about the days I'm too young to have witnessed but maybe start your own thread on it!

Don't judge all Tipp people by one poster, Bon. Read Tiobraid's posts more often and you'll see more balanced and humble comments.

daveboy is right - the thread has been hijacked!

Looking forward to the double header next week if Clare repeat the Munster Final performance level, then they should advance to the semi final. A big test for Dublin to travel down and to get past the Banner men.

For Tipp, I knew by Cahill's reaction to the Waterford defeat that the next opponent was going to get it. Offaly got it. The trick for Tipp is to repeat this performance level game on game. We saw Cork a few years back hitting 1-40 against Westmeath and now Tipp hitting 7-38 against Offaly. A dilemma for a Manager like Liam Cahill. Send them out to win every ball or hold something back for the next day?

Looking at the potential of both sides, I think Tipp should shade this one. Galway in the last 5-6 seasons have produced great performances against us, we have closed out the games better though. Have to say when Tipp are in full flow they're a mighty team so I'd fancy them to beat Galway.

Looking forward to it, not looking forward to the ticket hunt again though.

This thread is supposed to be about the 2023 All-Ireland Hurling championship. Can we forget about "The big three", who won the most All-Irelands in the last 136 years, whether Leinster or Munster is best etc and concentrate on the current topic? A good bit of banter, even winding up, is fine but I think it's got tiresome at this stage. I got needlessly involved myself a couple of times but I'll try to stay out of it in future!

At least Roscommon are not likely to moan and groan about the trip to Leeside.

Its one person's opinion don't tarnish us all. Tipp are up against it Sunday every knowledgeable Tipp hurling person knows that. Galway are favourites for me despite their form of late they have our number last couple of years and will take a mighty Tipp effort to win. Galway forwards are lethal and our full back line could be exposed again. Our tactics on how to get around some of their key backs like Mannion and Burke will be interesting. Tipp forwards need ball in hand and space and I can't see Galway giving us that much.

4 All Irelands out of 5, 61,62,64,65 so there is your 5 year period
you need to educate yourself on the history of Hurling
We also have 42 Munster finals and Limerick still only have 24 even after their 5 in a row"
You didn't win 5 munsters in the same period. Best you read posts before you answer them there's a good chap.

Tipp are the 3rd best county ever statistically. And might win their 29th this year. But on account of lads like Premier28, of which there are a good few in Tipperary, I really hope they don't!
