Premier28, didn't you post here in 2010 as Thurlesblues?

Your posts are gas, they were back then and are now :-)

Tipp to win"
I was checking the odds for a Tipp v KK final the other day (11/1 PaddyP). I think Tipp are the dark horse and would beat Galway in the QF, which would set up an intriguing SF v Limerick.
Kilkenny I'm not so sure about. They will probably face Clare again in the SF (though I wouldn't write Dublin off), a Clare team out for revenge after last year's SF, and raring to get at Limerick again.

They've been falling further behind in my lifetime not catching up. I was born in 1971!

They have fierce notions for a county that have only won 6 All Irelands in the last fifty years. Just one more than Limerick. The early 70s It was about the years that the whole hurling game changed. Tipp won a lot of All Irelands with the likes of the John Doyle Maher and Carey Full Back line. They would not last five minutes in today's game

Considering Tipp have won only six All Irelands in the last Fifty years-one more than Limerick- it could take a hell of a long time to catch up on KK.

It's good to be in a position to complain! Hard when you're KO'd on the flat of your ass, and can't even make it out of Munster.

First year in the new round robin format that we haven't qualified from Munster. It was going to happen eventually, and we played well enough that we can be optimistic for next year. Still doesn't detract from my original point though.

Ah stats, and how you use them.
In the last 23 years, Tipp have appeared in 7 All Irelands, winning 4. Their 3 losses (2009, 2011 and 2014 were against great Kilkenny teams. Tipp, just like Kilkenny are still a force in hurling. Your smugness about all things to do with Limerick is boring.

God forbid any of us lesser lights would forget that Tipp and Kilk are still a force. Time to get over yourself I'd say....

Ah cmon now, its a bit of banter and not smugness, if you read back through this thread there are some pretty strong accusations and labels sent Limericks way and also at their supporters i think we are entitled to bite back a least a little bit :)

As someone of Tipp genes I can attest to that and it used to really annoy me when they were playing Dublin, especially when a certain former barefooted chap was either managing or punditing. Mind you he came to have the same contempt for some of his own, so I've forgotten most of it.

On other hand, a certain degree of arrogance possibly helps to maintain standards. Tipp people are just more forward in its expression. Mind you, some of your own are catching up :-)

Does it maintain standards though Barney? Since I moved to Wexford in the early 90s Tipp have won the same number of AIs as Limerick. Cork have won the same as Clare. There hasn't really been a big 3. Only a big 1!!!

It's got nothing to do with the big 3. I was countering someone who had cherry picked stats to show Tipp in a bad light.

It's not me that is denigrating other counties teams. Maybe should address your 'get over yourself ' comment to some of your own county people commenting on here.

I'm all geared up for a crack at the smug Tipp lads in the Quarter Final but ..........there would be some crack if Offaly pulled off one of the greatest upsets in hurling!

Tipp won three All-Irelands with that full back line. In fairness, they wouldn't be the only players from that era who would have difficulty in adjusting to the modern game. And most counties had similar players at the time, except maybe not as good!
